No contest, get the Pioneer. Sony makes good stuff, as long as you aren't looking at car audio. The quality just isn't there that most of their other things, like home audio, have.

 

I'm running an Alpine CDA-9831 and just using an MTX 10" sub this thing rocks and the stock speakers sound fine for now and it plays MP3 discs with no problems whatsoever. I know it's a little older model now but I got it for just under $300 shipped from an on-line store but they're defunct now.
