monster iplay fm transmitter review and a couple of questions.

I bought one of these monster iplay at circuit city the other day after returning a griffin itrip ten minutes after buying it. The itrip was awful, it didnt stay connected to the ipod and sounded absolutely awful. the iplay works a lot better and sounds pretty good, plus it charges from the cigarette lighter and also gets power from the cig lighter. The only complaint besides the price i paid for it (80 bucks at circuit city) is that when i turn on my headlights I get a loud whining noise through my speakers. This is not dependant on rpms. Any idea what the problem could be??

I think i might just return this to circuit city and just spend the extra hundred bucks to replace my headunit for one with aux inputs to run my ipod. anyone have any reccomendations on cheap headunits?

OR

Any reccomendations on a better fm transmitter??

Thanks

find the ground for the cig lighter and the radio, give each of them their own brand new ground, to a new screw into body or something else..... or...... just get the griffin again , if you read the instructions that came with it , it says you have to have volume up past 75% and something else to keep it on, dont remember, but mine had same, works great now...

This confuses me, what do you mean when you say "keep it on"?

I was thinking grounds for that whining noise i was getting but I thought bad grounds generates a noise that changed pitch with the RPMs.

when you said it didnt stay connected to the ipod, i figured you meant it kept turning off... you must have meant it kept falling off??? if in that case, yes, junk

but expanding on other part, the interference may be something to do with toyota skimping on ground wires, and joining grounds together before connecting to body; this can cause interference in some radios/set-ups

Well I returned the Monster today and got a scosche transmitter from walmart that charges the ipod also (only $25!) and it works amazing in the s2000. In my truck it still works better but sounds nowhere near as good as it does in the s2000. I will be checking into that ground situation when I get a chance.

This may sound like a stupid question but anyone know where these grounds are?? (cig lighter and radio)

you will have to take the dash panel where the radio is, off, and should be able to trace them back to either a bundle of other wires, that eventually lead to a screw, or direclty to a screw
