ive got the bug...

Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription.. is more cowbell!

wait, not cowbell, but more SPEAKERS!! today i made an impluse buy... an mb quart sub on sale at Tweeter. 12", probably wont even use it... (if anybody wants it let me know!)

but ok, to the main point... i have a sub already, not now i want it to look coooool. i already made my speakers look cool. anyways, ive decided to get 4 10" JL Audio w0 subs. 8 ohm single voice coil. when all those are wired down, it will get to 2 ohms, which is perfect my my kicker amp. the wattage is almost perfect too. im also getting a 4-channel amp to replace my old 2-channel and amp ALL my speakers now. as for a box, ive decided to make it flare out over the wheel wells in the back. each side of the truck will have 2 subs on it. both the amps will be recessed in the box in the middle, plexiglassed over and cooled by a fan if necessary. im thinking vinyl to cover the box? need a new headunit too, so im going with a sony... not sure on the exact model but its realitively cheap. but before all that im getting a new H.O. alternator... yeah i just realized that this thread is completely pointless without any pictures, but im kinda looking for some feedback as to whether any of you guys think it will look good?

i want to make this look professionally done. i want people to say "whoa that is amazing!" when they see it. im tired of seeing all my wires half hidden. i know i can make this look good, it will just take some time.

does this sound like a good plan or not??

You are starting to scare me.... LOL!

oh to be young and still have my hearing again. I ran a car stereo store for years and have lost some hearing due to the old days.

You'll still need to port that enclosure some where so that the fan(s) have some place to exhaust the hot air, otherwise they will just be circulating heated air within the enclosures.

For "amazing!" and "professionally done", you could go for mounting the 4 10's, two on either side, diagonally across the rear quarter trim panels.

You would lose both cargo pockets, but you would'nt lose any floor space.

How's this sound for "professionally... amazing" ??

for the box, im building 3 seperate parts: the center part for the amps. however its not going to be an "actual" box. just a false front, so you can pull down the seats and see the wiring for easy access, that solves the problem of the fans. also, im putting 2 subs over each wheel well. not facing inwards like i first thought, to prevent possible sound cancellation. instead they will be angled from seat height down over the wheel-wells, out to about mid-cargo pocket length.

and yes, NisAznMonk was correct, im hopefully going to get my HO alternator from Excessive Amperage. Nathan Peddicord seems to make a good product, 180 amps for $295 shipped. still waiting to confirm order and everything. im excited!!

UPDATE::: bought a used ALPINE CDA-9825 headunit today from a friend for $100. installed it tonight. VERY happy with it! ...needed an extra set of pre-amp outs.

Damn, you're going to take up alot of room with that configuration, if I'm picturing it correctly. but if that's what you want, then run with it.

You could try RCA splitters plugged into the RCA jacks that you do have to double up the outputs/inputs.

Could you post a pencil drawing or something so that I could get a better picture of the enclosure configuration ??

hopefully you can see that... the top picture is a birds-eye view of the box.
the picture below that is a front view of the box. the picture to the right of that is a side view of the box.

Thanks, I see it better now and realize that I was correct in commenting that such a configuration would take up alot of room, but there'll be some space left.
