Heres my problem and need help asap, please.......

Intalled my head unit and used a Scosche Connector to plug into the facotry harness. My problem is that it does not work with the factory amp, (small print on the inside of the package)
it also says to call the the company to have them help you with this problem. On hold then my call gets cut off.

Has anyone ran into this problem with a connector kit? How can I fix this issue with the factory amp.
Is it just a power wire issue or????

Well, first of all, I think your a little lost. Aside from that, when I installed my HU I just bypassed the stock amp. The power that it produces is less than half of what my new HU pushes out. I figured it would just mostly be a restriction if anything.

My HU has 45 per chanel,
What does do the rear speaker amps have?

Which wire in the harness going back to the amps are for power?
I really dont want to pull new wires to the back but will if the HU has more power.

First off, what kind of headunit are you installing? Are you running stock door speakers or aftermarket?

Second, just completely disregard the stock Toyota amp, I removed it when I took out my stock stereo setup. The new headunit will probably produce close to 2x the stock output. Once you have the stock amp out look at all the inputs and outputs on the back of the headunit and you should be able to wire it up without running TOO many new wires, each car is different. I didnt have to run ANY new wires and when I did my buddies '94 somebody had already messed with it and I have to run all new Monster wire for his door speakers. I would also recommend for premium sound, if you are using aftermarket speakers to get an external amp, probably a 4-channel if your Runner is like mine and only has 4 speakers. The stock speakers on the dash are crap, for one they're only 4", they dont have any tweeters and the stupid things are pointing down at your legs.

It would help if we knew what kinda HU you were installing.

Thanks for the response. Its a PYLE head unit, I already have it hooked up and working with the exception off the rear speakers,

I'm already half way done with the removal of the stock speaker amps and will pull new wires for the stock speakers. I have a pair of 6x9s that I would like to put back there but I'm just not up to the challange today.

I doubt those 6x9's will fit unless they had different sized speakers with your year model...I had to drop down to 4" Kappa's for mine. Let me know how that all goes!

Its gettin pretty cold down here in the south too, I'm about to go out and do some paint work so I'll be right out there in the cold with ya man!
