im gunna redo my tacomas stereo. i want all new speakers and a pioneer headunit. i am also thinking of running an amp to those 4 speakers (i can get an amp for free, my dad has an extra one from the boat) will that be over doing it?

headunit - Pioneer DEH-P3800MP

Sounds good but how about a sub to fill out the sound better? Is the kicker amp a 4 channel? If so, you can run the whole system off of the one amp. (Only thing is your bass control would be tied to both the subs and front speakers.)

I don't know anything about Tacomas but I thought there were "stealth" boxes that would fit w/o moving seats. Just a thought...

Don't get a sub, If you get one and then have to get rid of it for some reason you'll miss it for a long time. I still miss mine from time to time, but if you get good speakers, esp. 6x9s and the larger circular speakers you can draw a good amount of bass out of them, especially with an amp

You can get a set of these. They do work too. I felt a set in a car and a home theater setup.

Is that tacoma in your avator the same model you have? If so, where is the rear speaker located?

If it is below the window line, I'd look into modifying that area for a Kicker RB8 free-air woofer. That woofer is pretty darn slim and it may just work for you.

IMO there is no way to have a nice balanced system without a sub. If I had a taco and limited space I would get http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1424
