Car Audio Suggestion

Hey guys, not for my yota but for my jeep, 1988 Grand Wagoneer. I'm looking to beef up the radio system. Any suggestions for a headunit first? I have 4 clarion speakers, but I want a little more "uumph".

So, I was going to install an amp and subs, but my question is how? Anybody have any advice, wiring tips, etc?

Alright made a sweet score at the local pawn shop. Got two 8" subs and an amp for 20 bucks. Heres my question

The amp is rated for 2 channels of 120 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
The subs are rated to 180 RMS and are 4 ohm

Is this a good setup? What wire am I looking to use for subs? Power?
Also can I hook up the remote wire on the sub that turns it on (not the main power wire) to the power antenna wire on the radio? Aren't the functions the same?

Thanks

that sounds like a sweet setup for the money. for wiring the amp, you're going to need a power(8 gauge or higher), ground(same gauge as power), RCAs(good ones with good shielding), and a remote turn on(amp turn on). DO NOT skimp on the wiring kit, it will make or break a good system!
DO NOT wire the remote amp turn to the power antenna, the amp WILL turn on but ONLY when you're listening to the radio. there will be a remote turn wire in the harness of the headunit, wire the amp turn on to that. the amp will turn on when it receives a signal so basicly when the headunit is on the amp is on.
make sure to put a inline fuse on the power wire and run it down the same side of the jeep that the battery is on.
make sure you have a good ground
and most important of all, run the RCAs on the opposite same of the power wire.
I think that covers the wiring installation, if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

pioneer decks are great, have had 4 of them so far and all of them never had a hint of a problem. Most have a built in crossover which comes in real handy for smaller speakers. Just bought a jvc a few days ago and regretting it, sound and options arent even close to a pioneer
