Best 5.1 speakers for under $1,000?

Preferably well under? By Sunday?

I've had it with my HTIB speakers, but the receiver isn't bad with 125w/channel (6.1 run as 5.1) into 6 ohms and sub preamp out.

I'd prefer wall mount to cover the holes in the existing setup. It's for a room about 20' X 30' with 11' ceiling. It's mostly for movies and music.

I have all the big box retailers and a few specialty shops a short drive away. I went to the big box joints today but everything looked like junk, except the Klipsch stuff at Best Buy.

yeah klipsch... wasnt impressed with their home audio subs on my "30 day test drive" but I know that their computer 5.1/7.1 setups are amazing.... Velodyne makes some awesome subs... have a 12" digital one at CC for like 450-550 (sorry prolly too much though) so you dont need a receiver though right?

velyodyne makes great subs. I disagree with you wjwerdna, I like klipsch subs a lot. The Sub 12 is a great thing.

Infinity makes great speakers. Whatever you pick for your price range will sound great..just make sure you have the sources and reciver to get it sounding awesome!

Have the receiver covered.

Going to the specialty shops tomorrow. My favorite shop featues Polk, not sure which.

I mentioned the Klipsch gear at Best Buy mostly b/c I have a $300 gift card to burn there.

I used these:
http://www.kef.com/products/ciseries/ci130_2qs.asp
for L,R, Sur L, Sur R, and an iQ2 Center (cabinet based)
on a job last month to replace some HTIB set up. (950 Retail)

the sub was a Canton and would really sink your budget.

A Polk sub could be had for a couple of hundred and would do ok.

The Velydyne would be really OK.
