Ya, beat me to it!

Best Buy is IS just about always bad for quality, price (well good if you like OVER-price) and selection.

Now for the simple wires ect... that you need NOW it is a good place to go.

And yeah, i hope to have a nice system. I guess i should update what i have and then i will post another thread after i get it installed this weekend (along with all the other stuff that has been done to my truck over the last week... ;-)

Well i ended up selling the MA sub for almost as much as i won a DIYMA sub for so that worked out well. And my door speakers are now going to be EFX which i have another guy i know that got me a deal on some brand new componet speakers ($60 for 2 sets of pro quality speakers!!!! Yeah i could not pass that up either!) and an EFX 800W AMP for $150 for the DIYMA.

So i will be running an alpine deck to the A/D/S/ amp then to the EFX door speakers.

And for the sub it will go to the EFX amp and then to the DIYMA sub.

Can't wait to see what it sounds like! I have heard very good things about the EFX amp so i hope the speakers are as good. And i know the HU and A/D/S/ is good so....
So i will see what this all sounds like after i get it done!

My 10 Tips for buying on Ebay (and other online sources)

I have sold over 7,500 items on ebay and bought 500. I have not once had a scam pulled on me. I have got a few items that were a little different then the description but after selling as much as I have I know that that happens.

Here is one rule that will stop 90% of all ebay Scams:

If it sounds to good to be true, IT IS!

This is where 90% of problems on ebay come from. If you follow this rule (and the variations of it) then that will stop most of the scams.

Second rule, ALWAYS use a credit card/Paypal for online purchases. NEVER USE A MONEY ORDER OR CHECK!

This will allow you to get your money back on any other problems you have if all else fails.

Third tip: if you have a problem with a seller/buyer NEVER mention feedback and if they do ignore it. This always does harm and no good.

Fourth tip: use the advanced search on ebay and select the find contact info link in there to get the other parties phone number. It is not always correct but about 50% of the time it is. And if it is not you can file a complaint with ebay and they will make them update it of kick them off the site (this is why you always need to have a valid phone number on your account)

Fifth tip: when researching a seller to see if you want to do business with them check there feedback. 100% does not always mean good. Make sure that 100% includes items that he has SOLD. And if you are looking at a few sellers deciding which one to go with can be hard. Most sellers have some negs, this is part of selling on ebay. Read them and then see which seller you trust more. Remember the feedback score is not everything. The last way to check out sellers is to ask a question about the item. If it is a technical item ask something technical. When you get the responses then go with the seller that you like the most.

Sixth tip: if an item is taking longer than you think it should to arrive and the seller is not responding don’t jump to disputes, threats and negative feedbacks. These don’t help the problem. You have 45 days of protection from paypal and at least 30 days with major credit cards (because those are the only way you pay for things remember). So give it a few weeks, you can e-mail the seller and ask but no threats. I had an item not to long ago that was just taking forever to get here. I come to find out that the guy had asked his wife to ship it and she had shipped it to the wrong address and it had just come back to them. So they resent it out overnight and I got it the next day (the overnight shipping was more than the item BTW)

Seventh tip: Ebay and all other way of buying things from other people (forums, Craigs list, amazon, google, yahoo, ect…) is just that. You are buying things from other people just like you. 99% of these people are not trying to scam you and are really doing what they say they are. And if you follow that first rule then the few that do want to scam you will have a very hard time of it. I get feedback all the time that says something like; it was really new!, wow can’t believe it was new, legit seller ect… Well it makes me laugh that people would really think I am trying to scam them by saying it is new and it not being new.

Eighth tip: When buying or selling on ebay ALWAYS use the ebay messages to contact your trading partner. This way if there is ever a problem ebay can see everything that went down. This also helps if an account is hijacked, the real owner will get the e-mails and then be able to fix the problem.

Ninth tip: Good deals and too good to be true deals are 2 very different things! Good deals are fine! The best way to see the difference between the 2 is to check completed listings and see what that item sells for normally. If it is about what you are paying or a little less then that is a good deal. If it is a LOT (like 50%+ is a good number) less then think twice. Even if it is a lot less that does mean it is a scam just check everything out but better off safe than sorry. The more you do the better you will get at seeing the different between the 2.

Tenth tip: READ THE WHOLE LISTING! EVERY LAST WORD! This will stop most problems before they start. Just a simple reading of the entire listing and any small print. Check the return policy, payments accepted, shipping cost and condition of the item. This is where a lot of new ebayers have a problem, they don’t read the whole listing and therefore don’t see where it says, only the case, must buy internals separate or similar small print.

Bonus tip: Have fun shopping ebay and other sites! Don’t waist all the fun that can be had looking through all the items and great deals out there just waiting for you! It really can be fun to look through all the stuff on Saturday night and see what there is out there to win. Don’t get bogged down worrying about scams and all that stuff, if you follow the above tips then a scammer is going to have one heck of a hard time getting you. So although you need to be diligent don’t let take the fun out of it! HAVE FUN!

I should post this in it's own thread for people to see since a lot of these guy shop on ebay. (and as you can tell that is just about the onl place i shop... and sell). The question is where would be the best place that people could see it (if ya'll think it is worth it that is.)

X2....Very good info for everyone. Not to hyjack, but I too do alot of buying and selling on e-bay. I would like to add to your tips, as a few things I have learned have saved me from being scammed.

1) When looking at prices to sell or to buy items, always look at what is out there, then scroll down and check "completed listings". This will let you know what the items have been selling for.

2) As Ace said, check the feedback! As a seller I have always hated when people did not follow thru, or are slow...most of them are worthless if they don't, but some people just don't check their email daily. Also great sellers sometimes get negative feedbacks from Jerks who did not follow the rules or read the listing. And like Ace said, if you feel they are not happy with you, don't mention feedback! If they are a good ebayer, they will e-mail you and communicate the problem...then you can help solve it. There are many hot heads out there that will jump the gun and fire off negative feedback without trying to solve the problem.

3) When listing items, always check the preferences that say you can block certain types of buyers. If someone starts asking you questions, check their feedback...if it is bad, block them! Us paypal only to collect payment. It may cost you a little, but you always get your money and there is no argument about sent payments. I require my buyers to have a paypal account and if they use a buy it now, they have to pay immediately (this is an option for sellers).

4) One tip I always use, If you have a GOOD credit card, use it! I use paypal, but I always put things on my Citibank Card on paypal. I had an issue once that paypal refused to take care of, Citibank refunded my money and Paypal did not get paid....that forced paypal to take care of the situation.

5) Always get a shipping quote before you buy...their are still some who will try and scam you or make up for a low price by charging more for shipping.

6) Lastly, if you are a seller, use USPS for small items and Fedex ground for anything bigger than a loaf of bread. It will save your buyer alot of money and will get it there in 3 days. You can print your label online and just drop your package at Fed-Ex Kinkos. It is faster, cheaper and much safer than UPS. I once shipped a Jeep A/C (compressor and all) in 3 boxes for less than $40. UPS wanted $129! and they probably would have destroyed it! I have had over 30 packages torn up by UPS (that were shipped to me). The boxes look brand new when Fed-Ex ships them. Myth....Fed-Ex = Expensive.

Ace, maybe you should cut and paste these tips to a new thread! I would do it, but since it's your baby, I don't want to rock it for you.

Yeah, i have a file with selling tips as well. I should create a new thread and add in yours (they are great as well). Where should i put it is the question? off topic doesn't sound right but the trading section doesn't either. Anyone have a suggestion?

I will need to dig up the selling tips file, I can't seem to find it.

Oh, and as for Fed-ex vs UPS vs USPS.

I hvae my own experanice with all of them. Personally i use USPS for anything under about 3lb unless they want USPS. over that and Fed-Ex/UPS is cheaper most of the time (except for Hi, Alaska and international, don't use them for that ever). I recive 50lb packages ALL the time (at least 3 a week for my buissness) and i get them from every shipper out there. As for how the packages look when they get to me they are all about the same. One time UPS is better the next it is Fed-EX. Now price is something that is way to hard to compare. neither one is cheaper all the time. As a whole they are about the same. Now for express shippments fed-ex does seem to be a little cheaper but for ground it just depends on where it is coming and going.

But having delt with both UPS and Fed-ex custormor serivce i do have to say that UPS wins hands down. This is the only reason i use them most of the time. But fed-ex is a great option as well. Check them both when you ship somthing.

lol. yea, kinda went off into oblivion. anyways, laughin at best buy isnt exactly what i was lookin for. i knew someone that got an infinity amp to run the 2 12 alpine r's and a new high end alpine head unit, along with alpine r speakers for his escort mounts and all the wiring for under 600 bucks. that was from best buy. yea, most of the time not so much, but every once in a while they will run deals and u can pick up a huge setup for cheaper than anywhere else. and u cant go wrong regarding returns. however, as for install, no way. and hey, if u just need something to do, u can take it home that day and hook it up. lol. been there done that.

LOL, and i was not saying anything about you btw.

I have had good luck with Best buy before as well. but i have also had bad luck. For low end stuff they do have great clarance deals and sales, regular prices are not great though.

And the one time i did let them try to do an install they killed my amp so that is one reason i am not that found of them.

I have a few friends that work at best buy, one of witch is the one that got me the 12" so...

My price range is that you don't spam old threads trying to unload that.

Posting in currant threads is one thing but don't go to the old threads.

Also had you read the thread you would have seen that i already have my amps and everything else.

But you did remind me that i need to post an update as to how everything went/reviews of the system...
