for the fronts the speakers are glued in place but a razor blade and a little prying will fix that for rears you can ether make the plates your self or buy them but there like 10bucks for two and you need 2 on each side other wise the magnet on the speaker will hit the window heres a few pics of mine sorry i didint get a pic of the spacers for the rears there jbl gto series the fronts are amped the rears are not it took me about 10hours to install all the speakers as i ran new wires for the fronts for the amp and the speakers are 6-1/2'' for the front fits great and 5.25'' for the rear

The fronts are an odd size like 7", the rears are 4".

You can fit 6.5" in the front and 5.5" in the rear, and with a little patience you can fit 6.5's in the rear. I did it and it sounds great!!! These are Focals. I was going to add a subwoofer, I even wired it, but these speakers have great bass response. I decided I did not need the Sub. I made the brackets myself out of MDF, and I painted them black just to make it nicer looking. I did have to modify the door pocket slightly on the back door.

Here are some pics

These are 5.5" in the rear with a custom bracket. I didn't like them so the next picture is a 6.5" component in the rear.

If you want more pics of the modification let me know.

Search here...there is a ton of information on mounting 5.25 and 6 in the rears with a custom spacer. I have posted it quite a bit.

I have components in both the front and rear doors of my 2002. Love them.

Check out this website for speaker spacers and adapter plates:

http://mjmautoinnovations.com/

Great products and for the price can't be beat.

I installed 6.5"s in the front and 5.25"s in the rear.

For the front, I just did some small modification to the OEM brackets and got the aftermarket speakers to fit w/o problems.

For the rear, I had to install 1 adapter plate, 2 spacers and a thin felt strip on each door to move the speaker out far enough so the glass would not hit the magnet when it was rolled down. Oh and a couple rows of silicone were placed between the spacers for a "rattle free" install.

Puchased all from the web site above.

Hey,

Any picks of the new install?? Also, I looked at your profile...did the sound deadening in the floor make a big difference. I have only done my doors.

Absolutely love the Roll Bar!!!

I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I'm going to try using Lexan and a 4" bore to make my adapter. Any thoughts on this?
It's easy to cut, and it's cheap.

I would probably insulate it with something, as it might rattle...otherwise it should work fine. I used MDF for mine. Wear goggles when you cut it the lexan...it sucks to get it in your eye. Why a 4 inch bore?

Wow, sorry I missed that question. It was a couple months back and for some reason, I just now saw it.

Well you've seen pics of the install. As far as the sound deadening goes, it did make a big difference doing the floor. Now I just have to find time to do the doors some day.

On a side note, I have not given up on the idea of adding an amp to my setup...just working on some new projects at this moment. Will get around to it later.

I understand completely. I am trying to remodel two rooms at my office, build a house (with a builder), get my Jeep ready to go on vacation (will hopefully be towing it with the Sequoia), and deal with the kids.
