Yeah unfortunately I already saw it. My 4runner now is black so I'm trying to stray from that. Thanks for the help.

I've been toying with the idea of selling mine, not quite in TX and it's a 4cyl but it's really clean, just over 90k miles with 4wd & the 5spd. Very solid & reliable. What price range are you looking for?

I'd seriously consider buying yours but I'm looking for a V6. I can't even find a decent auto in Texas right now. I found a '97 limited that is priced pretty well but it has 164K on it and I don't really want a limited. I don't see any point in paying for something I don't want. Anyways, I'm hoping to stay under $8K if I can. I'm going to be getting more for my car than first anticipated (woohoo) so I may pay more if I come across the right vehicle. I'd like to stay under 130K miles too.

One of two 5-speeds I have found has got almost 221K miles on it. That's too many for me.

My 4runner isn't sold yet but hopefully something will pop up soon after it sells.

Be nice to know where you are at in this small state so that we might know what may or may not be close enough to you.

I'd prefer stock. Maybe just some ATs on it. I won't be running anything bigger than 31s. Intake and exhaust is ok along with a grille guard (can sell it or mount my lights that are still sitting on my floor). I'd prefer to buy a vehicle that has a factory towing package.

I may also go for a 2nd or 3rd gen truck. But only with the 22re. I would prefer ext cab but may go reg and I'll add a camper.

I'll also go for a 1st or 2nd gen 4runner with 22re and 5-speed.

I can't seem to find anything anywhere in Texas. So I'm broadening my horizons a bit. My numero uno choice is a 3rd gen w/5-speed. Everything else is what I will consider.

Keep me posted if you located anything. I think I'm going to go to a couple stealers and drive around a little tomorrow.

Thanks

Ag

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you around the Houston area then. Just didn't know how far you would travel for it. I have seen a couple that fit your description here but not for sale. I tend to notice the ones like mine (w/5 speed) so I'll be on the lookout for you.

P.S. mines not for sale, haha.

Still not interested in my 97 with the 2.7l + 5spd? 32" revos on it. Not sure where in TX you are, but I'm about 5hrs from dallas. Doesn't have the factory towing package, but I have a factory hitch, and wired a 4 prong connector in (soldered all the electrical connections). I towed my old ski boat with it a couple times & had no problems.

EDIT: It's not the truck in my avatar, if that's what you were thinking.

I would go for your 4runner but I'm just afraid that it isn't going to have enough power for me. That was a big complaint I had with my 3.slow. Plus if I bought yours, I'd have to get a header (I'd do the airbox mod and exhaust on the other one anyways). I've been doing some reading on the 2.7 mainly over on TTORA. From what they are describing, it sounds a lot like what I was experiencing with my 4runner. I want to actually be able to pass people on the highway instead of having to get a running start. What do you think about the power of it?

Thanks Keiser. I could use another set of eyes. I'm going to school in College Station so Houston is definitely doable.

It's not a speed demon, but compared to the 22re I had in my 90 it's pretty sweet. Never feel like I need more motor, around town or on the highway, but I tend to take it easy. Drove it cross country a couple times this spring & had no issue setting the cruise at 5 over & humming along at 65-80mph. Occasional downshift to 4th on hills, untill I hit west virginia, a couple of those mountain passes had me in 3rd. Was your 3.0 an auto or 5spd?

You are probably smart to wait for the one that is everything you want. I test drove quite a few over about 6 months till I found this one. Only reason I'm considering selling it is that my wife and I really only need one car & it would be nice to save some $$$.

Plus then I could maybe sneak a project 1st gen into the garage.

My 3.0 was an auto. Because of the stupid power curve, I could sometimes pull hills at 50 but not 70mph. Hills were always a problem for me. Mainly it would unlock and then I wouldn't get anymore power out of it until I really put my foot in it. Wind was also a big problem and that probably annoyed me the most. If you got a nice headwind it was troublesome must getting on the highway.

Thanks for the offer though on the 4runner. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a V6 but I'll keep yours in mind.

What's your gas mileage like?

Like 18 around town, 22-23 on the highway (adjusted for the oversized tires). If you really want the v-6, wait for one. But maybe e-mail me for some pics before you go buying a jeep
