Houston 4runner's club

Okay This the start of All 4runners in Houston, Tx. Post here if you want to meet 4runner enthusiasts in Houston, make new friends, go driving, off-roading, help with mods, or whatever.

I'm new to Houston, fresh out of California. Started Building my runner named Tiki, Living on the west end of Houston. Looking for someone, or a few people to go off-roading, and build with. My Thread is below.

HAHA!!! I am so glad I logged on just now. My name is Peter (obviously). I'm from NW Houston. Went out to Crosby last weekend. Had a blast!!! It'd be a little more fun, if I had someone to help with recovery if I for some reason got stuck ... which I did a few times, but got out on my own.

Hey alright. Hello Peter, name's Jake. Yeah everything is more fun when you got people just as excited about 4runners doin it too. Do you do much crawling? or just mudding? cause I'm a fan of both, I recently got new suspension and want to flex it out, see what it can do.

nice rig, Also do you have a build thread for your runner?

I would love to crawl, but I don't have the financial means to purchase the parts or the time to weld them in place. As of right now, I didn't actually do much building of the 4runner. All I've done is implanted a 3.slow in place of a seized one. I lifted the rear using a 4x4 wood block as a spacer between the spring and axle. And the front torsion bar was tightened for a 4" lift.

HORRIBLE RIDE ... I might add ... cuz of stock shocks which were probably never changed. I need the performance shocks, but I don't even know which ones to order ... or where to start for research on them ...

well im not one to go serious crawling, just dirt road stuff with side routes.

Thats an interesting mod to the rear suspension. also this forum is probably the best place to find info on lifts and modifications.

Yes. I can do minor stuff, but when both differentials are open, it's sorta difficult when I'm only on one tire in the back and front ... LOL!!!

does your runner have VSC and TRAC controls? if so you should look into installing a disable switch. very easy and very cheap, all you have to buy is a switch and 8' ft of 8 gauge wire. It will turn the computer off so it doesn't kill power to rear wheels if one starts to spin free.

just look up "Andymod 2.0", it diables the VSC allowing power to the wheels, its on this forum, directions and pics to guide the way.

There is also the original "andymod" which will disable the traction control and VSC, however this mod will also disable ABS braking.

That looks like a fun spot though.

I don't believe 2nd Gen 4runners have that. But I have no idea if I have that or not.

Man ... I don't come around Katy often enough. It sucks, cuz my boss has me sitting in the office most of the time now. I don't get to drive around as much as I used to.
