Infraction System questions
I saw in the one of the moderator threads that there is going to be a point system for infractions taking place on the site. I searched and tried to locate any info on this, but was unsuccesful in my attempt. Just wondering what the specifics are to it and how it works. I'm assuming it is not finalized yet as I'm sure you guys would have posted it somewhere. If it is posted can you provide me a link.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The Infraction system has been in place since 2002. I have not used it much, but, It is helpful when I can't keep track of who keeps "infracting(*TM)" and who doesn't.
Here is a screen shot of the infractions and the points assigned. Note that 90 points and you are banned for life. (Rough guide).
Assigning an infraction is more of an art than a science IMHO.... one I am just learning.
Hope that clarifies.
(*TM) Sorry - made up my own verb...

OK great. Thanks for the update. I really was not aware this was actually in place or utilized. I assume that the points are conveyed to the user after the infraction?

Ric, the infraction is the warning, and text explaining the infraction is PM'd to the member.
This has always been in place here, but the categories in there have been updated with the help of a past moderator.
Most of those infractions are already covered in the main rules section, but many choose to ignore the rules here, which then results in a "Reported Post" being sent to staff.

It coincided with this thread.
It's a great system and when used properly, makes moderating problem children much easier.

I would like to add a little here on this subject.
The infraction system can also work two ways.
1. Points are given with the infraction.
This mainly happens if the member is a repeat offender, or the reported post is severe enough to warrant giving points.
2. No points are given.
This works just like giving someone a warning.
It goes into a file, but no points were given at this time.
With both systems it is much easier for moderators and admins to issue the infractions.
Also the list of current infractions seen in the above picture will be updated.
In fact I added one today, "Racial Slurs" which was not in the list before, but it was in rule number three in our house rules here.
Staff never takes pleasure in having to issue an infraction, but often it is required to keep the board running top notch.
It is nothing personal when staff does have to issue one.
Most of the time these get issued on account of someone used the "Report this post" feature we have here, and it brings it to all of staffs attention.
And sometimes we will discover a need to issue one on our own while reading threads/posts.

Just wanted to ask a few questions.
1. bypassing the censor program.. Would be considered an offence?
2. bad language, wouldnt the censor program catch the naughty words?

Was there really a reason for that Blake? That is about as a low and immature as anyone can get, knowing full well YT has NEVER allowed that kind of language.
It has always been a banable offense. Is that what your asking for?

Thats funny you see that as offensive. Misrepresenting the price of a product is whats offensive. So is using the language that you blatantly choose to display. There is no reason for it. Don't be surprised if you take a permanent vacation.
