Most of my order came today. The spool, detroit, shock mounts, and one install kit. Something got mixed up and i only got charged for one install kit, so thats what they shipped. Oh well, ill call there next week and just order up another one. They had by far the best prices on the spool, full detroit, and the install kits, so ill be glad to give them my buisness again. I may even order my winch from them, they have Warn 8274-50's for just a hair over $1000, shipped

I will end up with 15x8 Eaton beadlocks, but may have to run the stock rims for a while. If i do i will definately need wheel spacers to make that work.
No plans on upgrading the front brakes.

It was a little like christmas today.
Dual case adapter, steering, u-bolt flip kits, shackles and bushings, brake lines and parts, t-case mount, wheel spacers, ect. all came today. T-case skid will be here tuesday because UPS got something messed up. The only problem is that i was going to take care of getting the 3rds setup this weekend, so i could get the axle back under the truck next week. But, the setup kit is backordered from Marlin. So i still dont have the second setup kit, but it is supposed to be here next week.
This week really killed me with not being able to get anything done, but i guess crap happens. Should get a lot done this weekend i hope, i need to catch up on what i didnt get done this week.

It would have been better than any christmas, if i didnt have to pay for it all.
Got the front end torn down finally. I did the driver side first, and was amazed at how good of shape everything was in. Well, the passenger side made up for that. More water came out of the passenger side knuckle than gear lube. Everything was rusted. Bearings, races, the inside of the spindle, all of it. The trunion bearings were packed with this goo, felt like hand soap with pumice in it, needless to say they were beyond shot. Ill have to spend some time cleaning up the spindle, but it should still be useable. Ring gear still looks good though, thankfully the housing wasnt full of water.
I took the housing outside and cut everything off of it, and ground most of the welds smooth. I ran out of daylight, so ill finish the housing tommarow, and wire wheel it up nice to get it ready for me to weld the shock mounts to and for paint..
I cant get over the quality of the Marlin stuff i ordered, from the t-case adapter to the steering arms. He just makes a great product. Check out the new steering arm compared to the old stock arm.

Marlin skid came yesterday, so now im just waiting on the one install kit for the detroit and thats pretty much it. I wanted to get work done on it today, but have been tied up working on my neglected K5, and had an unnexpected suprise while driving home from my doctors appointment:
Had my left front Q78 explode on the highway today while i was in the right lane, which was a fun experience. Loosing a 36" tall tire in an instant on your steering axle is loads of fun. At least it gave some warning, though. About 3 seconds before it went it started to vibrate and thump, just enough time for me to get both hands on the wheel and brace for the innevitable. Ill get pics of the tire when i fix my camera, a section of tread the size of my size 14 foot is just gone.

Joe, I didn't even notice that you were running the Q78's on your K5. That's the same tire I've been wanting to get for my 199 4runner, but in th 16" wheel size. Can you take pictures of them for me, by any chance? I'd love to see what they actually look like. How do you like them? What kind of wheel do you have it mounted on?

Mine are grooved as well, it helps in the rocks and on the road.
