Hi guys, I was asked about these in my build thread, I figured I should post them here...
I made these last spring.
My goal was to retain the functions of the original doors. Locking/unlocking/opening from inside and out. I also wanted a soft door and wanted to do something different from the buttons. So I used a #10 coil zipper and sewed a piece if piping to one side and made a channel around the door for it to ride in. then used 30 ga. clear vinyl and cordura for the door.
Ive never sewn a stitch in my life and after I got a quote for $600 and 8 to 10 weeks from a local canvas shop, I found a 1942 singer 201 for 60$ on CL, and figured it out.
The soft door rolls down and stores inside the door under a hinged door.
They don't rattle and surprisingly, they don't flap at highway speed.

I have had a few people ask me to elaborate a bit on these doors, and luckily they are apart right now while I get ready to toss them on for the summer.... So, hopefully this helps. Feel free to ask for anything else...
Here is a shot showing the part of the zipper that is captured when the interior panel is installed. Its hard to tell but the compartment door is open, you are looking at it strait on, it is part of the frame and not the interior panel. It also shows the conduit that runs through the bottom of the door and the interior door pop rope travels through that and you can see where it comes out..
Here is a shot of the "piping" (It may be called something else) that I sewed to the zipper so I would have something to capture the zipper by. I just feed/pull the zipper through the window frame channel I made and then capture the rest of it with the interior panel.
Here is a shot of a couple straps I use to keep/adjust tension on the soft door. I simply tighten these down a little bit, and when I close the compartment door it applies the rest of the tension. I sewed a loop on the bottom, and slid threaded rod through it. Then a couple fender washers and nylocks. The straps wrap under the conduit.
This is a shot of the door linkage. Obviously everything was moved (locks and handles) so it was simply a matter of bending up some links and manipulating them until they were just right. (Im sorry to see I chose the door with ugly door lock/unlock pull link to photograph... The other door has a prettier one, but this works fine..:flipoff2
