Literally the only reason I havent done a SAS yet is because I really like my ARB bumper, and it would interfear with a SAS. I also dont feel like hacking it up...

But latley, happens everytime I am away from my truck and wheeling, I have been toying (punn intended) with the idea of an SAS... so my question is this... what front winch bumpers are compatible with a SAS, and lets see some photos... I know about the all-pro one, but what others?

I've run a ProZap w/ an SAS and two ARB's. Each ARB was modded in a different way, but really nothing major. The last one is quite beefy but looks nearly stock. I have a friend who runs the Front Range Off-Road Fabrication bumper and I personally think it's one of the best out there...

Hmmm, so you're telling me if I get my engine running again (man I hope so), and decide to do the SAS I will have to get rid of my ARB bumber? :frown:

 

Unless you do some serious redesign on the mounting setup... it mounts in the same place your leafs will want too.. the other option is the ORS kit, but its too much $$$ for me... i'd rather sell my arb and go with one like shown above...

 

Actually, I don't think it is all that different, it mounts in the same place as the front hanger also AFAIK.

I think the supports are different due to airbag compliance, mine has a large triangle piece that runs down the bottom of the frame, its the main support for winching... I dont rememeber seeing that one on my buddies tacoma... could be wrong... anyhow, I dont want to hack it up, if I SAS I'd rather just sell it...and start anew

 

If you don't have the skill to refab your arb, someone in your area can. It will be a heck of a lot cheaper than a new bumper.

It also depends on what sort of swap you do. Links do not usually mess with front mounts on bumpers while leaves almost have to.

I got rid of an ARB on my 95 because it wrapped below the front frame rail where the new spring hanger went. Built something custom.

As for reworking an old one, some times you are farther ahead starting from scratch.

I have only had a TJM, not an ARB, so I can't say for sure. I meant that it wraps under the frame rails in the same way yours does.
Start anew then, sounds like you have already decided, haha.

 

Yeah, refabing isnt what I want to do....just wondering who makes SAS compatible bumpers...

If I wheeled more maybe, but I will have a hard time justifying the leaf SAS at about 1/3-1/2 the cost......

But it would be nice... the ORS kit is sweet

 

I think you will find modding the ARB bumper to be really simple after all the welding, drilling, cutting and grinding you will have done to install the SAS. You'll be a angle grinding super welding wizard after all that fab work.

That said, I just got a TJM bumper and it was a fairly simple mod to make it fit with the SAS hanger. Maybe the ARB is different, but I'd bet it wouldn't take to much effort. The SAS hanger only took the lower bumper bracket bolts away which was fixed by welding the bumper bracket instead of bolting. The rest of the bracketry still bolted to the factory 2nd Gen mounting points.
