thanks. you can build a "bruce bumper" for about $200 if you got the materials right and you had all the tools and just needed the consumables. still, it's 15-20 hours labor to properly cut and build one from sheet and tube steel.

another issue to contend with is all the differences in the bodies/frames - even within the model years. just as steve (sonoran steel) about how much they can differ even with 99 SR5 runners...

The problem with mass production is not all trucks are the same.

ARB's are built in large quantity, in part by machine, so it is pretty standardized. Most of the rest of people build one off fit to the truck.

Also, have you seen how hard it is to get 10 guys here to jump in on something? I cannot imagine 25 or even 100 to get good prices on bumper parts in quantity. Production cutting and braking could bring steel down, but the fact remains, it is still at least a 15-20 hour proposition. Let's call it 50 an hour, very conservative, that is $750 in just labor.

As I always say, if you think it can be done, do it.

We are lucky in Colorado. The women are hotter, the beer is better, there are tons of good fab shops, but the trails are in Arizona!

ahhh, grasshopper. the women of the south are WAY hotter (i've been to Denver and Ft. Collins - you need to visit the south), the microbrew beer here is the same beer you get (just not in the quantities that you can get), (you got me on the good fab shops), and there are some pretty kick-ass trails here in tn/nc as well...

there's not going to be a built and shipped to you rear bumper for under $500 - EVER. guaranteed. you can forget that completely. you'll be lucky to get one built (something decent) and shipped to you for less than double that.
