Now that my shoulder is healed up and i'm off the blood thinners its about time to get back in the garage before its middle of winter and below freezing outside.

lets see, the to do list off the top of my head:

mount radiator and find hoses for it

purchase and install new water temp gauge

purchase and install new radiator fans

finish hose clamping the silicone intake connectors

find better fitting hose for some of the vacuum lines

hook the laptop up to the fuel computer while the engine is running to find out why it idled great but wanted to die when the throttle was pressed

flush and fill the trans/tcase oil

flush and fill the rear diff

recheck critical systems, ie brakes and steering

fab exhaust from 3in mandrel bends i already have

install wideband O2 monitor for A/F

once those are done it should be drivable to get a baseline tune on the fuel map, good enough to get it to a dyno and do real tuning.

burn rubber ?

seems like a short list . . . i have to be forgetting something

every turbo has lag, thats just the nature of the system. stock turbo is more than enough unless you go as far as i did with more fuel and fuel control. any turbo big enough to have significant lag is going to be way to big for you i would think. stockers are cheap too.

yea and no more alternator belt vs radiator hose disasters this time either that belt wins every time.

i got a new so now i can take 6MP images and the best part is it does 640x480 movies at 30 or 15 fps and 320 x 240 at 60/30/15 fps each with stereo sound depending on how big you want your file size. If you have a big enough memory card it can do hour long continuous movies. I'm still figuring out how to use it but ill put some images and movies up soon.

took most of the morning and afternoon but i got the rear diff pulled to re-seal it to the axle and checked for any abnormal gear wear (everything looked fine). Diff didn't want to come loose at first so i had to get a helping hand with a buddy and a pry bar while i pulled and supported it. Trans and T-case have a fresh load of gear oil. All 4 sets of brakes checked for mounting bolt torques and clamping function.

Starting up the engine comes tomorrow. 4 day weekends are nice !

well this morning the first time i tried to start it up it was bleching and backfiring but wouldn't catch, so i went through the cam position sensor install routine according to the book, and not just from memory, and that fixed that problem. It fires instantly upon cranking and idles great. Only problem is the wanting to die when throttle is applied is still there although it isnt as pronounced once i let the engine warm up some. It's leaking oil pretty bad around the oil filter but i'm not gonna try to fix that until my remote oil filter adapter gets here so i only have to work in that area once. I have to take most of the stuff off the exhaust side of the engine to get a good working area to get at the oil filter. The MAP ECU is picking up all the inputs perfect ( engine rpm, throttle position, and manifold pressure ) and has the correct fuel map saved onto its memory so the next step is to make sure its sending the correct signal back to the factory ECU which simulates the airflow into the engine based on those parameters. I didn't let it run long enough to get completely warmed up, the thermostat never got a chance to open to circulate coolant, but I'll let it go that far after i stop the oil from leaking around the oil filter. At least its not leaking oil out the front and rear of the crank case like it was before the rebuild. I'll gladly trade that for a leaky oil filter which is no big deal.

I can't upload the video i took this morning b/c i don't have enough space left on my university account so if anyone wants it send me a message on AIM ( JMG4runner ) its 220MB at around two minutes long.

i think the next video im just gonna do the smaller resolution size and lower frame-rate. 100MB/min is still too big a file, even with modern broadband.

Is it raw video or is it compressed at all? Typically, raw video is along 100mb/minute...

my answer to that was I don't know, so i did some research. Got ahold of some vid editing software, clipped a bit off the start and finish to get it to about 1min 30 sec and compressed to <10MB. Quite a change from 220MB

should stream in windows media player. . .

awesome to see. Glad to see the progress. I am sure you are starting to really get the itch to get it finished for the first drive of it all back together!
