Yeah, you're probably correct about the securing the straps properly. I'll have to salvage what I can from the top and redo to straps to make sure it won't happen again.

I have an old CanBack top and tried to order a new top for the old frame ( old top shrank a bit over the years ) but found out they are out of production right now . I was wondering if I purchased the FJ top if I could add some press buttons to the fabric and use my existing CanBack cab rail . Do you think that would hold ?

I started putting together my flat bar last night

Does the top still fit on with with the foot mounts mounted here?

The footman ,loops which came with the top, were mounted at the back corners.

Wow, how did I miss this thread years ago - awesome! This looks just like the WabFab kit I got used from Malteserunner this summer.

I mounted my footman loops in the back corners of my bed, literally flish with the plastic trim on the edge, where the tailgate closes against the bed. I was staging them in the same areas in the photo you have here, but didn't seem like it would give me the tautness I wanted. Not saying it wouldn't work, but I really like where mine are.

Good luck - love mine!

Yes the footman loops work better in the bed behind the OEM tie downs and they are out of the way if you put the hard top back on.
