After looking at all the other tire carriers, it does make more sence to have it off to one side, both to put most of the weight on the spendle and not the clip, but also for visibility, which isn't really high on my list because I can take the tire off and put in on the roof or inside if i'm on a long trip, so either way. What ever you find is easier/better is fine with me.

Finally got some more pics to show. These are for the 1st gen bumper.

First mockup on truck to get the height and figuer out the side wings

mounting tab for high power backup lights

bumper is almost finished!

High power backup light to blind tailgaters with , or to see with. (and light protection)

All thats left is to refit to truck, and fab up the mounts (and side wing braces) and install the 2" angle iron filler pannel between the bumper and body. Should have more after this weekend, hopefully pics of it finished and bolted on if the weather will give me a break.

Mike you are the man. Awsome fab work, keep it going, I'm going to start saving now for my bumper, once your ready I don't want to wait because of funds.

I definately want some back-up light tabs just like that on my bumper, I thought of something else that would be a must for the 3rd gen guys. I hope on the side wing for the exhaust tip to be relocated to eventaully. 3rd gen exhaust tips hang realyl low, and I put a good dent in mine at Tellico, so it would be nice to have it up in the bumper protection.

Wiil see what we can come up with for the exhaust. I'm planning on installing a mounting point on the left side wing for the 1st gen so we can move the exhaust up 4-5 inchs from stock to tuck it right up under the wing.

Man mike... That thing is looking good! I can't wait! Thats funny, I looked at the thread to add the suggestion of adding exhaust protection and scott had already thought of it! I'm going to be wanting a whole new exhaust system after the S/C goes in so I might as well get it intagrated. What lights are those your using? They look kind-of like the stock OEM ones?

They are the fog lights you can get from advance auto or wally world.
Blasters I think. They only cost around $15 and give off good light. I used them on the front of the rig for a while.

Awsome idea for th back-up lights. You won't be using them all that often so no need to spend $$$ on them, plus if you drown them in mudd or water you won't feel like you lost much. Can't wait to see some drawings for your 3rd gen ideas Mike. Take your time, I know the 3rd gen body lines are a little harder than the 1st gens. plus the longer the more money I can s tash.

Well heres the next one. This one is for my rig. Just alittle differant then Seaflea's.
Moved the clevis mount out so they are directly behind the frame mounts, and moved the lights out so to.

Peices and parts

The flat plate with the hole in it is for the tow package plug.

The hole over the reciever tube is so I can still get to my spare tire hoist.

Update:

Mike came down to the beach this weekend and we installed the bumpers.
They are a lot nicer than I imagined. He took a lot of pics, but since we had such little time we were not able to download his camera. He said he will be posting them tonight.
