I'll post some pics of my friend Scott's shop where we are workking on my 85. It is pretty fab too.

It was just under 1000sq ft. Even with all my equipment, i could still get 3 cars in there and work on them. This time, my wife got to pic the new house when we moved to Asheville, so all i have is a standerd 2 car garage in the basemant (only big enough for 2 honda's

Thanks Mike. For all youre help and knowledge. I now have a new respect for all the custom fabricators that make these.
I definately understand why they cost what they do. I had a great time working with you this week hope you can finish it soon.
For all those who dont know, Mike has spent the last 10 or so years building custom hot rods and is now getting into the offroad arena (for pleasure, not to build rock crawlers) Some of his work can be seen in hot VW magazine where he did a custom 63 notchback VW. Great guy to deal with. and very knowledgable too.

Heres the next step on the 1st gen rear bumper completed.

damn i hate it when flinch while taking a picture.
Will most likey be a couple of weeks before i can do any more on seaflea's bumper. Have to start mine so i can use my runner to fit this bumper and make up some brackets. But before that comes the new rear bumper for evilcow so it can be installed on the weekend of the 15th. Look for more pics on that buildup.
If anyone is interested in a bumper or any other custom metal for your rig, just send me a pm.

Wow guys,
I just stumbled on this thread, and wow! I can't wait to see the final product! I wish I could have stayed that weekend (it was really weird seeing will on the hiway!) but I really was good to get down to the ol' apartment before school started. Glad to see your making some headway and your not hating yourself yet mike! You still have one more in line too!
Its going to make the rear of my truck look 500x better. Not only will I not have the rediculous hitch (b/c of body lift) but because I did the hitch flip mod and cut into the bumper and now its higher it makes it look even worse. Not to mention the huge uwharrie dent in the side. If you ever need/want graphic design stuff done or decals made let me know! I'll be first to help/rock the decal. Espcially now that I have a naked rear window!! Its funny because nobody realizes its me any more...
Anywho... Hope all is well up there and I'll let you know if we plan a ski/wheel'n trip up to boone or something. Not that I want to take you from your bumpers or anything
The savannah boys are pumped and ready for another tellico run so just say the words and we will be there!
Hope all is well and you guys had a good new years!
Austin
ps, I couldn't rememer if I told you the site with all my pictures I at least half like... there are a couple of you mike, so I figured you might be a little interested. Let me know if you want a high rez versoin for a desktop or anything

Mike work'n hard and a better pic of his spotless garage!

hmm, I just thought of something...
Why do you want a new rear bumper will??? Don't you already have one with a tire carrier??

I need a tire carrier so I can make room for the OBA

Mike may come up with a tire carrier in the next year or so that will be large enough to hold a jerry can, tire and highlift, so I will waite on that.Nice tanks, by the way!

Very nice beads Mike. I have drawings for an Xterra bumper I was going to build before I sold the truck that used the same hidden hitch idea(hitch pin behind the bumper). Again very nice fabrication.

I like the new brackets you made for it.
Hey dave, how does your new clutch feel? I bet you were smiling all the way home today!
That new bumper looks great on youre truck. What a great new addition.
