I am making a set of sliders for the Yota before we go up to Uwharrie for a trip. I am using round tube and have no bender. I want to see pics of what you guys have made without having a bender. I know i could miter cut it, but i really do not think it would look good. If i left it "open" between the outer and inner tube, i know i will get trail debris stuck there

don't have any pics but I have seen people use a fender washer with a short carraige bolt welded in the end as a tubing cap...actually doesn't look that bad

Having the ends apart is not too much of a problem.

My reommendation would be to use square tube and miter it though.

Not my truck, but my sliders are made the same way, but with round tubing.

I am still debating on using square tubing. My only issue with e round was that I have my rear bumper made out of 2x4 square tubing and i think asthetically it will look odd with rear square and the sides round but that is just a "looks" issue. I amy just cut the tube and bend the outer tube inward about 5 degrees, anyway i could finsih the round sliders, sell them and then get some square tubing.

What if you added a "pie wedge" at the corner, so all the miters would be 22.5*. Then it wouldnt be a hard corner. Just a suggestion.

I havnt heard the term pie wedge before, but i think that is what i was thinkng bout cutting the tube and bending it in a touch, but not connect it to the inner tube.

I am curious to know how many people make sliders with the one tube like 86tuning's? I see all the companies offer the tube tubes, but a single one is so much simpler. Is the second one mainly for help getting in and out of the truck, like a step?

I used square for my sliders. Its a bad picture lbut you get the idea at least.

I think it is important to have a rail under the pinch weld to help spread the load WHEN (not IF) the sliders flex up. Of course, with the rail that far in, you don't get much body protection, so you need an outer rail.
