How much effort is involved in modifying a 2wd to a 4wd?

I apologize for setting people the wrong way, I meant for it to be taken as sarcasm because I probably wouldn't have the money to fully convert it anyway. I was just curious as to what extent of trouble it would be to actually do it. hence, on the first post I did, I put "this will be interesting." Apologies, Sean.
No worries. I understand where you're coming from, but try not to be quite so sensitive about it. Here on YT, there is a plethora of different ideas, styles, interests, financial situations. What one person digs may not be what the next guys likes. Just take it all in stride. My opinion is, keep your 2wd, and find a 4wd you can build up the way YOU like it.

Another suggestion: (and I promise I'm not being a jerk here). Search and read. There is an incredible amount of information on YT that will help you figure out what kind of Toyota you want, and what you want to do with it. Above all, HAVE FUN!!!!!!

No need for apologies man, everything is cool. If I were you, I'd just get your little 2wd running nicely (it will give you more than 25MPG if you keep everything nice) and be on the lookout for a nice cheap 4x4 in the next few years. Once you have that, you're GTG.

Yep! Just go up and click on that "search" button, enter in the specific engine you have into the field, and viola! You will have TONS of useful information!

I had a 74 toyota 2wld and I put a sbc in it out of a old nova with at t350 tranny (real easy swap). It had the old slot mags with 14" wide slicks on it. I had to raise the bed to where the bed rail was even with the bottom of the back window, it looked real trick. It was primer gray with a tricked out interior. That truck hauled balls. The truck looked like it was a POS that some guy just funked out. Until I hit the gas. Oh back in the day. You know that ride that you wish you never got ride of that was one of mine (i did say one of them).
