front dana 60 question

ok so ive been searching craigslist and have found tons of ford 60s, ive been able to find dodge and chevy 60s but they are going to cost more than i bought my truck for and i still have to pull the axle myself which is bs imo but thats supply and demand at its finest.
i dont want to go through the headache of converting to drivers side drop
but what ive been thinking would it be easier to cut the inner Cs off, switch the axle tubes to the opposite sides to make a pass. drop diff, and then weld the inner Cs back on
if i did it that way then i wouldnt need any custom parts because i would be changing factory parts around, just something ive been thinking about and if you know weather it would work or not (i cant see why it wouldnt work)
if you know a reason why this wouldnt work please explain why. its aggravating when people just say it wont work but dont explain why it wont work
thanks

I'm rather dyslexic but I think you would need a different ring and pinion set-up because it would be turning the tires the wrong direction? I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere

Would'nt that also leave you with the spring perch on the inside of the pumpkin when your done? That could be a bit of a problem to work out.

the ring and pinion should be the same. you need the reverse cut gears if you flip it to try and make it a high pinion iirc.

EJesse- I didn't mean flip the housing but rather swap the passenger axle tube to the driver side and vice versa
Spazz- the term reverse cut gears is kinda of misleading when they cut the teeth on the gear its not actually cut in a different direction hard to explain but I'll try to show you
Normal gear tooth looks like this = /|
Reverse gear tooth looks like this = |\
/ = coast side | = drive side
Basically instead of changing direction they just cut the stronger side of the gear on the normally weaker side of a regular ring and pinion, where as flipping the differential changes the side of the pinion in relation to the ring gear
Normal differential = |
……………………………….o|
High pinion diff = o|
...........................|
Flipped diff = |o
...................|
Hope that makes sense took me a while to figure out why it wouldn't work because most people's explanations suck and I learn best by seeing it and I had to draw it out myself several times to see it
