So this is what i have been working on the last few days, 99% done just need to make some side reinforcements then grind and paint everything else is done. i plane on putting in a winch in the future just dont have the funds now so i just made it accept one later on. I also cant decide what i want t cover the top part with i want it to be removable so i will be able to get to the winch for any reason. The whole bumper is made from c channel 6 inch and 4 inch. This was my first major build i think it turned out alright let me know what you think good or bad. I am open to suggestions to make it better.

are u goin to make a winch mount on it.. Im wantng to build one like yours.. (that style i guess) how much did it cost u.. how long did it take

yeah i do plan on doing a winch mount, i will get some side shots as well, It also needs needs some side mounts, and i still need to grind some welds and then paint it. I dont know how much it would have cost me in steel i got it for free from my step dad it was left over from a trailer he was going to fix but never did. It took a lot of time it is extremely time consuming atleast for me i have never built anything like this before, i probably have about 24hrs put into it, once i got the mounting stuff figured out it starting getting alot easier. be prepared to be constantly changing your design and hearing "what you could do's" from everybody that catches a glimpse of you working on it.

 

I havent been working on it much i have been helping a friend do some tile floors for some extra cash but i got some time yesterday to work on it. Here are some pics of how it is mounted to the truck i still needs to gusset these mounts and make some side attachment points for the ends of the bumper. I ground down the welds on the front and threw some paint on it it was rusting like crazy so until figure out the side mounts this is where it stands i dont know what kind of paint i want to use in the end but i will have some time to think about it i dont know if i like the flat so much maybe semi gloss or line x.

 

Looks really great..I know your going to hate me, I think you should find a way to make some beefier mounts, just for good measure...And all that work and no stinger/ hoop bar..? /me thinking.

 

i plan to gusset the ones that are there now and weld a plate behind those brackets going all the way across the frame and then gusset it, I dont have a winch yet so i dont know how its going to fit inside there exactly so its all open on the top right now, i need to get the winch and then figure out what i am going to cover the top with then figure out a stinger

I'm really diggin the flat black look personally. I like how this thing looks. Maybe you could get the mounting dimentions for the winch you plan on getting and then make kind of a drop down for it? Kinda like this

looks good id put some weld on the backside of the seams tho since u ground the outside smooth (not solid just a 2 in weld every 4 in or so) not that its likly to go anywhere as it is that would give u even more strength without adding anymore weight thats just me tho

 

I'm now gonna go with something more like yours for my winch bumper.. Looks great...
Just one question, How much room is behind there for a winch?

Winch Dimensions: 22.7" L. x 6.3" D. x 7.7" H, I based it off of these dimensions from warn then added a half inch on everywhere and built a cardboard box for a winch and used it for mock up it has plenty of room for different manufacturers i do not know exact measurements off the top of my head.

The bumper is completely welded front and back.


Did some reinforcement of the frame today after seeing what happens to the stock stuff i pretty much just copied the design from front range offroad so i got one more thing off the checklist.

how about a tow point for the front?

I have a receiver shackle I use when I snatch block my winch line.
