Always good to have both.. it is a b but not to bad with patience. A plasma would be the fasted by far but not always easy to get access to one. I started with a tourch but found my other tools worked better. The rear switching to leafs was a pita more than the front for sure for my project. Only issues I've had with grinders is long use and burning them up.

only gotta move the steering if u move the axle forward. but its easy to do. Grinder wheels can last a good amount if you dont work them real heard. listen and feel the grinder and run it corectly and you be able to make some good cuts. the rear on 4runners is hard to go leafs because its got alot of brackets to cut out and lots of hard spots to get to if ur limited to sawzall and grinder. All in all if I could do a sas again it would only take about 2 full days depending if you have absolutly everything u need for it. good weekend starting friday lol. its easy and pretty fun to do. been involevd with about 5 sas's in the past now.

o ok well i want my axle forward just a bit so i can clear the cab a bit better lol can i get away with driving it without moving the steering box on the street for a while? yeah i know what you mean about grinding wheels, dont bogg it out and what not lol. yeah makes sense about the rear mounts, i would like to keep it linked so i wont have any axle wrap so i might end up 4 linking it later on . yeah SAS doesnt seem to be too hard, more time consuming and a matter of having everything ready to go. im a tad bit lost on how to push the knuckle bearings out and replace them and not mess up the camber? hah probs shouldn't worry about it but that all i can think of rightnow. id ask you if you would help me SAS the runner but it would be a hassle for me to come down there and deal with the border and the fact that i dont know wa at all lmao.

oyah do you have any idea of where i can old man emu coils? i want to run the 860's in the rear for a while and cant seem to find where to buy them? arb.com has them but doesnt give very good info and whatnot lol

Not sure about the coils. Never really looked into them before. The knuckle bearings have a slit for a slege and punch to knock it loose. Some bearings like in the hub need the seal removed in order to know out the bearing race. Bring it on down lol Ide help ya. Wish I had more space ide help alot of people out if I could. Its fun turning a rig into something badass

ok yeah i was thinking just run those coils for a bit but it seams its not a good idea lol so im just trying to figure out what to do with the back now lol.

Yeah ive been looking through the fsm for rebuilding the axle but i dont have allot of tools or experience so it should be fun haha. if i came down then we might as well just sas the thing lol itl just suck crossing the border, trying to explain what im doing down there lol they are so picky about what we do in the states lol

i just hope i will be happy with sas since i DD my rig and i drive allot lol

Sas is fun to drive around in. Not as much on freeways just cause it can be a little scketchy depending on ur competance in the build. Keeping it lower and wide too will help alot. Youll love it but it will be a much different ride for sure

Hey 91 try giving North Shore Off Road a call, they are localish to you. Or try National 4wd, I think they both sell OME stuff.

Hey Check out my new rig 97 4runner 3.4L with a 5spd and leather and Elocker. Just installed my sub from the chevy, and replaced the plugs with some NGK's and new NGK wires. Really clean for 192k. Gonna be my DD for the winter. Im may pull the motor next summer and fully build it strong and maybe a supercharger after its built.. will see about that. Just need a reliable DD with 4wd. Still have the chevy1500 for towing now till I can get the duramax I really want. The new runner runs really well and im happy to be driving a 4runner again haha. My Monsters just waiting for steel. Got my welder wired up this weekend so just about ready to lay some beads

Heres the new runner

Plan for this rig is simple, pretty much stock. I want the hood scoop and bumper from the newer 4runners 99-02. Gonna do the Grey (blue/red) wire mod for the rear lockerPossibly a very mini lift just to fit some 33's maybe so nothing like my black rig although I would have a blast chopping this thing up I probably should stop myself before I get any wild ideas and finish the black one first Ill be sure to post mods if I do any.

nice runner dude! its a lot like my 97 I had, only yours has leather

do the gray wire mod, you'll love it. also, just as a forewarning, you'll have to do a decent amount of lift to fit tires so they don't rub. these things aren't like the older runners lol. Mine had 2" lift with 265/75/r16's (32's), and when I was flexing, the wheel wells would get pretty stuffed, though no rubbing anywhere.

full stuff on the front:

full stuff on the rear:

all in all a GREAT dd... I miss mine greatly and am uber jealous of you

Ya I was thinkin bout going just 265X75X16s for now. Only thing I would change would be the color to the forest green I love the look of that color.. Tho im fine with white. I want to keep it clean for now haha.

And about the total chaos funny you mention cause its one lift I did kinda look at for it. It would be a fun desert rig. Definetly would like it wider and low for it but possibly an idea for latter on in its life for sure. will see. And the grey wire mod is next for sure. Ill have that done real fast. i could have done it while I put in the sub wires last night tho I was kinda lazy bout it. Wouldnt take more than 10 mins to do so definetly soon
