3 coats into the paint job of rustoleum gloss white being rolled on.
Only went through 3/4 of a quart so far. Still going to do about 4-5 more coats while sanding between coats. Should be able to finish it with another quart or two.
Also picked up some treated wood for the bed floor. Got some 2"x10" boards.

Not my flavor (not the biggest step side fan) but it don't look too bad and more importantly YOU like it and I gotta give you points just for plain off doein it. See if you can find/make a roll bar and really be set!

Its too bad you couldnt adjust the height of the bed itself.
Like the top-bottom length.
Coulda made it look more like the stock style bed.
Otheerwise, good job

Got the tailgate started today. Used the original sides that I cut out of the chevy bed tailgate. Used some square tube on the top and round tube on the bottom. I also cut the toyota out of the factory bed. I'm going to try and incorporate that into the new tailgate. Also got some more painting done on the roof of the truck.
The next few pics are of the roof I got started on painting.
If I'm overwhelming you guys with pics just let me know and I'll cut back on them. I just like showing the progress as it comes along.

I got it as close as I could to the same height as the original without having an extremely shallow bed. It matches up using the wheel tubs, but ya its higher than the normal bed.

Nice to see another stepside yota. Mine came with the bed already made so I can't offer any advice but it might give ya some ideas. And belive me, filling out the wheel wells makes a difference here's a couple pics of mine.
Sorry I don't have a better shot with the bigger tires, if ya want a can probably get one tomorrow. Or any other pictures you may want.

{NOTE} Stereo is no longer there. It has been stolen.
Also probably going to get some locks that work so that the radio won't get stolen again.

you set on a solid bench seat?? why not throw in a 60/40 split bench (if it will fit lengthwise that is)....... oh BTW, if you happen to stumble across a 70's chevy luv stepside bed, those fit perfectly on those first gens.......

I'll just see what I come across at the salvage yard for the seat. But I think it's a little late to be looking for a Chevy luv bed. Plus then it wouldn't be custom.

Had my daughter helping out on my professional paint job. Its coming along pretty good. I hope to have the paint job done in a couple days. I'll be putting the bed back on tomorrow.

Some updated pics. I got the bed back on. I'm undecided on the accent color. Everything that is currently chrome or black I'm considering doing rustoleum hammered silver or I may just do it black. Still gotta wet sand and maybe do another coat or two and then buff.

Well got some more work done on the truck today. Wired up the taillights, wired up a new radio, fixed the door locks, worked on the roll bar but think it looks better without it on.
Heres what it looks like. I didn't weld on the center two pieces because I didn't want to do the extra work if it didn't look good. And I don't think it looks very good. What do you think.
Heres a pic of the front. I painted the grille and headlight buckets with rustoleum hammered silver.

Thats what I was saying above. I have the pieces to weld them onto. But I wanted to see how it looked in the back of the truck first. I don't think I'm going to keep it in there because it doesn't really follow the lines of the truck.
