Can the stock 7.5" diff and CV axles handle 37" tires? the answer is yes if you have an endless supply of spare parts. The IFS suspension, just barely handles 35's, considering the front SA toyota's break axles left and right on 37's, your only option is going beefier. If your intent on running 37's, then expect to build up a pair of D60 axles and a lot of cutting into your body.

I'm sorry but this IS the best solution. Money wise.
I'm off to look at Europes finest lungs.

Get a 1997 FZJ80...front/rear electric lockers, powerful motor, lots of cargo/seating room, TOYOTA RELAIBILITY.

Lemme clear some stuff up here for Shahzad....
1. My 4Runner is NOT running 38.5's.... it WAS running 35's and for a brief moment... 36's. Even w/ Newfield CV's, it was breakage time when I hit the rocks and put the RD90 and the 5.29's to work. Not pretty.
2. My LC run's/ran 37's and 38.5's (SX's) on the rocks @ Moab and didn't break a single Birf... and these were the breakage prone Newfield's... I've killed two sets of Longfields here in the East wheeling... one @ GWNF and the other @ Tellico on Lower 2.
3. So.... you CAN run bigger tires on Toyota SA's... you just need to set your steering stops and be smart about the skinny pedal.
4. IFS vs. SAS... hmmm.... Wheel the piss out of the IFS until you reach your limit. (you'll know/feel it) Some of the west coast guys don't understand the terrain differences here in the east... i.e. you HAVE to induce wheel spin to clear your tires to climb the SLICK rocks here... Slick rock out west isn't slick at all for the most part.
5. Do what you want and a what you can afford. You've always been a cool guy w/ me and I'll help however I can. We only spent $300 for welding on a SAS on a 94. We did all the cutting and grinding ourselves... that was a 4 day process.

with the way things played out. The SAS is going to be on hold for awhile. So I'm going to keep wheeling it like it is this summer, and fall. Then when I save up some more money again, I'll look into SAS again. Its still going to happen, just not as soon as I thought it would. So it worked out for the best in the end I guess. I get some more wheeling time with the IFS.
