Coil spring/shock lift with oem parts?

Hi,

Got this thought while planning on doing a 2-3" suspension lift on my '91 runner.

Since i've got fairly new shocks and the prices for longer ones over here are ridiculous i got this idea from a land rover board. I'm thinking of making a spacer between the coil spring and axle and moving the lower shock mount up.

Something like this. From a land rover. 2" spacer.

In the front i thought of sdori spacers and moving of shock mounts so the oem shocks would do the job.

Has anyone done this and how would this compare to hdj 80 series springs and longer shocks? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wls

And what happens when the suspension wants to droop and the shocks aren't long enough and you blow out your shocks and wind up having to buy new ones anyway.

For what it would cost you make those monstrosities and replace your current shocks, you coulda bought a new set of shocks.

Keep the ghetto fab rigs on the LandRover boards where they belong.

i think coil spacers would be safer but you might need longer shocks

If you just want 2in you can do that with bj spacers and rear spring spacers for a couple hundred. i guess it depends on how much time you want to spend.
