Ok cool. I cut my rear off tonight and left the same. I found where the closet brace on the roof was and left the pillars. I am going to look for the rear options hopefully tomorrow.

I would like to put a full int. cage or just create some type of rear roll bar within the back seat area trying to think of a way to get some angle support I plane to x brace or triangle behind the seat and may kick the braces towards the front seat along the side of the rear seats. Should I go to the frame for more support or would attaching to the floor board be enough. I plan to do some type of exo cage eventually so the int. cage is just an extra precaution. Don't really get into alot of roll over situations in flat a$$ florida but never know what the future might find.

Do you have pictures of your interior cage?

The interior cage is currently under construction. I had to cut part of it out to do the rear. I am planning on running part of the cage on the outside. As far as mounting a cage if you go to the frame you need to allow of body movement. If you go to the body just re-enforce the mounting area and try to mount to strudry locations such as on top of body mounts.

Very nice and clean job.

Do you have any pics of how the tailgate meshes with the wheel wells from the bedside? I'd also like to see what the bed sides look like... but I guess you'll post up some pics when you cap them.

Also... how have you designed the spare carrier so it will remain in the upright position? A locking pin of some sort perhaps?

Your whole 4Runner has always looked and performed great. I am sure this mod is the icing on the cake.

My next plans are to finish the full floater this weekend. Then I need to reconfigure the cage to make it partial internal/external.

This weekend I started the partial exo-cage. I finished the hardest parts which were the main bars that go from the front to the back, which was a lot of bends in one piece. The holes through the body are done and the old bars removed. Next I need to:

-Weld the main front/rear bars on.
-Bend/add cross supports
-Add a center bar between pass/driver at the sunroof.
-Add bar to rear fender bar
-Add rear fender bar to pass side
-Add triangulation supports
-Add plate from the frame to the body in the front
-Add bend to front fender bars
-Paint

Still a lot of work to go. here are some pics.

That looks awesome! I like the start of the semi exo-cage, I wanted to do something like that on the old green 4Runner but the body was too beat up.

I think it is all done now. It has been difficult trying to paint it with the temps the way they have been, but the wifes hairdryer came in handy.. Here are some pics from this morning.

I now need to start working on some type of hood / upper fender protection. I think I am going to do some type of internal tube that can't be seen.
