Cheap bumpstop simplicity

Thought i would throw this up for general purpose. Hope it helps somebody. First off dont pay attention to my oil mess or crappy flux welds and take all in vain since i've had a few to drink. This is what i started with on the front axle.

So i decided to go with the poly flexy bumps for the poor man.

I cut off the old bumps and centered and welded the new 3.5" ones on.

I quickly found out that there was interference with the ability to put a socket on for proper torque on the u-bolt nuts.

So i got out the sawzall and trimmed the sides of the stops.
And this was the end result.

Now to the rear. Started with this.

Cut out a piece of 1/4" flat stock to match the mounting surface of the new 4" bump.

And put it up for eyeball mounting.

Then i welded the stock on to the factory bump extension for the mount.

And here is the end result. The pic does'nt show it quite true, but for my application it stops the spring at zero arch to prevent damage. I hope this came out to be helpfull.

Im trying to get my 85 set up, it has no bump stops at all.
It has 4" trail gear springs with 5" trail gear shackles.
I got two pairs of trail gears bumps that look like the factory ones in your picture, are they just welded to the top that U-bolt plate?
What brand are the bumps did you get (the orange ones), I was planning to just making some pad extensions out of square tubing but might go your route instead and put the orange ones on the frame.
