Cab Corner Repair
So I decided to redo my cab corner this year. I did a quick fix a couple years ago, that started to look kind of crappy this year. And since I was doing a couple other things (flatbed build) I thought why not and also I could get better access to the back of the cab now that the box was off.
Here’s some pictures of the quick fix I did (This is from this year)
It looked pretty bad
So I removed the quick repair and started over.
This is what I started with,
It’s was a pretty big hole.
So I started by cutting up some sheet metal I found around the house
And I bent one (using the side of my work bench) to kind of match the curving of the truck.
Forgot to get a picture of it, but here it is on the truck and partly welded up.
From there I cut another piece to fit on the back and started to weld it on,
Cause I was doing this outside and over a couple of weekends it kept rusting on me of course but whatever.
Last weekend I pretty much got all the welding done and here is how it is right now,
Not the best welding job I’ve done but should work alright and hey it’s hard to keep a 92 pickup from not rust here in Ontario, Canada.
This coming weekend I’m hoping to have the time to finish it up, still have some sanding and prepping to do before I can paint it.
Will make sure to post it all finished

I guess no one has any thoughts on this.
Any one done some body repair like this before, maybe have some tips for next time (might be doing the other side next year, looks like its starting to go. Also have to do the rocker panel on my buddies truck soon)
I'd like to see pictures of other people doing the same type of thing.

Ya I'll be putting up a whole truck build later, almost done my flat bed build right know, after its done will post it all. The toyota logo across the side (Im guessing is what you mean)
Theres a place in my town that does vinyl stickers for like boat numbers and ski-doo numbers. I just went there and picked out a letter style, gave them a size, and they printed/cut them up for me. As you can see the TA got cut a bit from doing the cab corner so I might be getting a new style.

next time you do any bodywork, go hit up harbor freight and pick up some of the sheetmetal buttweld clamps.
they sell em there for like 5 bucks for a pack of 8.
i used the crap out of mine doing bodywork on my jeep. and let me tell you, it was alot easier lining up the bodywork with them.
plus you can put the metal over the old, cut both, and get a perfect buttweld.
And i REALLY hope you didnt just lap-weld the metal :/
Cuz you're gonna have a spot where the cab corner is higher than the rest. even with bondo
