ARB Bumper On a '84 4runner

I've researched and can't find a direct answer. I have an ARB front bumper on my '84 runner. I am looking to get a stinger and my buddy would like to buy the ARB. My question is this: will the bumper off my 84 runner fit his 88 pickup directly or with some modifications?

Thanks in advance guys.

I heard that the bumpers were the same from solid axle to IFS, but the brackets were different? I'd suggest contacting ARB directly to get the info.. They'd know best

The bumper attaches to the frame and the frame is the same SAS/IFS so the bumper should mount up no problem just remove the bumper mount brackets as well as the bumper.

Google ARB bumpers uSA and the american dist. should come up... but IDK if they still make them for the older trucks... they are $$... as for fabricating a "copy" pretty much any welding shop should be able to come up with something similar... google winch bumper and several good similar choices will come up.

I have an 87 xcab and bought an ARB bumper and trust me it doesn't just mount up. I recently did a SAS and still doesn't mount up yet. The frames were slightly more narrow in 84, and even the bolt up at the very front does not line up correctly. Only 2 of the 4 do. It will take a lot of modifying for mine to get on, but it will eventually. Too expensive to not take advantage of the one I already have.

Thank you, I got the truck from my dad and a year ago I got rear ended and sandwiched in between two cars, I felt bad because I totaled both but neither was my fault, but it bent my back pipe bumper and front winch bumper, so we have been looking for a replacement for a few days and haven't found anything good, but this helps a lot.

I bought one that was labeled for 86-95 trucks/4runners on CL and it fit my '85 4runner no problem. All the bolt holes were the same.

I'm not sure what the difference with the 84-85 bumpers would be but they do list them as separate on parts sites. Probably just extra brackets for the later model bumpers since the bumper itself is EXACTLY the same.

To the guy who says the 84-85 frames are narrower then the 86-88 frames you are wrong.

This place sells them. A bit spendy.

Sry I just know the bottom mount up of the bumper doesn't line up with my 87. So that lead me to think it was a different dimension. Again my apologies. It was more narrow than my Frame so it seemed that it would have been more narrow as well.
