Anyone with a SBC 350 swap use an R150?

I'm going to yank out the 3.0 in my '88 and put in a mild 350. I was planning on getting the AA adapter to reuse my R150 trans. Just wondering if anyone else here has gone that route?

plenty of people have it just wont last as long. if you put a mild 350 i bet youd get a pretty good life out of that trans.

Who are these people? Why won't it last long? Do you have any proof of this or just saying it? That one dude from OZ who has a 302 and R150 says it will handle up to 800hp.

Mine won't be over 300hp. Plus I won't drive like an idiot.

Just looking for some real world experience. It would be MUCH easier to reuse my perfectly good working R150, transfer, and drivelines instead of trying to get a new trans and transfer, rebuilding it, and getting new drivelines and getting them modified for length and to fit my yota axles.

I've used the r150 trans in my swap. I talked to the guys at allprooffroad and they said the trans will last a long time if you don't abuse it (burning big tires on pavement, and shifting gears like a drag racer). Look at my thread (my toy pics) under sas swaps.

A lot of supercharged 3.4s are also in that power range. Don't hear much about 5spd transmission problems.

Its called search just like i did when i researched the same swap look at northwest offroad, downey offroad, advanced adapters aswell. like i said before if you put a mild 350 in i bet youd get a pretty good life out of that trans. The r150f will last yes, i didnt just say it would instantly break but odds are that it would fail before a chevy tranny like what comes behind it. The question is how hard do you want to push it and like you said its gonna be mild and your not going to push it. I would in that case go with the r150f imo. Also the r150f is found behind the v8 tundras so it is pretty danm strong.

Just do some more searching i know you can find the info out there

The V8 Tundra never came with 5 speeds did it? At least I was always under the impression that the R150f only came in V6 Tundras.
