TTown, looks great. How much do you have invested so far? I would eventually like to toss my front factory bumper and do something similar.

all my cost have been in tubing so far about $90 plus about $50 for the skidplate which I have cut and will be mounting soon. It still isnt finished, I had to cut it short when I went to school. The sides arent braced and I would like to add on some light protection as well.. I will post pics soon

I second this! Of course with a few mods. Great work, very inspiring.

finally got the skid plate on

four flat tabs hold the skid plate on. the plate actually rest on the frame created by the bumper, not inside of it so any impact forces to the skid plate are taken by the bumper instead of the tabs. 1/4 inch aluminum plate.

I took the lights off my roof and I am gonna tab the bumper for lights and bend a tube around the top of those. Over winter break i am going to start designing/building a bolt on long travel 4x front end. i have access to a cnc plasma cutter as well as a cnc cutter that will machine aluminum, for FREE! but only for a limited time. Hopefully boxed LCA's and solid cnc'd aluminum UCA's. 13-15" of travel with 4wd.

UCAs like so...i figure if I can, why not! interseted to see how much a block of aluminum big enough will set me back. that is what will probably discourage me from this approach. once i get it started i will start a new thread dedicated to that. I figure quite a few people might be interested. *bling*

that picture is from a 2wd truck just to show the aluminum UCA, my design is 4wd. I shot down the aluminum UCA idea. To use the stock spindles you would have use a vertical uniball carrier which i think would be a bitch to machine out of aluminum and probably wouldn't hold up. I still think it would be pretty trick if i could figure out a vertical uniball setup.
