Well after 1 week of grinding waiting for parts to come in, I have finished my SAS!

I will post more pictures here once the truck is cleaned up some.







This tuesday coming up, I am going to add a johnny join to my steering shaft. I am going to take 44runners advise to make it more stable before it turns into a problem down the road.

BruceTS is actually the one that suggested the johnny joint. I would just redo it, wouldn't take that much more time really and isn't a bandaid fix. You have to remove the shaft anyways to get the JJ on there...

I would say the front is up around 9" or so... its really high...

I have to get a sway bar soon, as it drives funny without one. Well todays plans are get a aligment..

Is it level? Did you have to raise the rear higher as well?

Like I said I've used Heim joints in many project vehicles, the NASCAR team I used to wrench on used them exclusively on the steering system, so they are quite strong and can take the abuse.

 

are heim joints street legal? i was just wondering because i think i might use some to replace my old worn out tie rod ends.
