first installation!

Got a lot done today. Only got hurt once. I got it installed after dark so I took a few pics. Sorry they are not great pics. I wanted to see it installed. Next it comes back off, gets some more grinding and then a finish. Paint or liner material? I have not decided yet. The truck did not even know it is on there despite the extra weight. Moving the lights to it also.

I know, it needs a wash. I live 26 miles from town and it is dirt part of the way. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

Project complete!

I decided to go with rustoleum spray on bed liner. I guess we will see if it is any good pretty quickly. It bolted up pretty easily but the alignment to get tacked up was difficult.

I did find one problem at the end. there is not quite enough clearance for the rod to fit between the body and bumper to allow the spare to be raised. Thought I had it accounted for but I guess I messed that up. If you have any ideas let me know. I am trying to figure some sort of flexing method. Here are the final pics.

It has been a fun project.

Sorry for the delay to your question. I never weighed it but I believe it to be about 85lbs. The truck did not droop or become more level.

On another note the rustoleum spray on liner material has not torn, rubbed or otherwise been damaged so far. I am impressed with it. the texture is pretty sweet too.

That looks good, man Did you use the factory bumper mount brackets?
I am going to model a new rear bumper for my Tundra off this. Instead of 2x6, I have some 2x4x.120 rect tube.

I considered cutting some plate for the mounting brackets but after a while I thought that the factory mounts had lasted extremely well. I took them off the factory bumper, cut to the correct length, and welded them on the new bumper with short pieces of 1/4 angle iron welded to them and the bumper as gussets. then the approximately 15 inch extensions were bolted back into the factory position. sounds confusing to me. worked really well.

I considered using a piece of 4 inch square tube as the starting point but ultimately went the other direction. Good luck on your work and post it when you get going. ps I used to fish out on the Chena when I was stationed at Ft Wainwright.
