How much does your truck weigh?

So I cut a lot off to install the Dana 44 and I think I put less back. Only way to tell for sure was to weigh the 4Runner.

With full trail armor it tipped the scale at 4755 pounds. This was on the waste management scale at 40th Street and University.

Just go to the "Tempe" lane, drive on the scale and look at the numbers. If they lady opens the window tell her you forgot your Tempe Water bill and will have to come back.

You obviously don't have to come back, you have your weight. Or just tell her you wanted to weigh the truck.

So what does a 3rd gen IFS tip the scale at? Remember to deduct your weight since you'll be in the truck when it is weighed.

My 01 is right at 1800 kg, 3967 lbs for you non-metric folks. Also measured at the local waste management place, I don't know how accurate their scales are though.

2000 model year Toyota 4Runner published curb weights:

Basemodel:
3,440 lbs - 2.7L 5-speed 2WD
3,485 lbs - 2.7L auto 2WD
3,725 lbs - 2.7L 5-speed 4WD
3,770 lbs - 2.7L auto 4WD

SR5:
3,600 lbs - 3.4L auto 2WD
3,885 lbs - 3.4L 5-speed 4WD
3,930 lbs - 3.4L auto 4WD

Limited: (no 5-speed trans available)
3,710 lbs - 3.4L auto 2WD
3,975 lbs - 3.4L auto 4WD

So the auto trans adds 45 pounds and 4WD adds 265-330 lbs, depending on the model.

My 00 SR5 V6/manual 4WD weighed in at 3990 lbs with your lift, slightly larger tires and rock sliders.

It is interesting to note than our 3rd gens are lighter than 2nd gens. A V6/auto Limited 2nd gen (1995) weighs 4,110 lbs.

Sort of looks like I put back more than I took off then, That Dana 44 loaded with brakes, gears, etc. Fully assembled is really heavy. B Willie & Cheese carried it and it appeared quite heavy to them. Those two are pretty burly to boot. On the white 4Runner I dragged the empty 44 tube over and assembled it in place.

I also have a 3/16" boxed gas tank skid and another 3/16" t-case skid, both of which are really heavy, but they never take dents and I don't ever have to fix anything. I just wheel the snot of it and park it and do it all over two weeks later.

2 skid plates are not 700 pounds so the Dana 44 does weight more than the IFS that was removed. Interesting.

I drive that red truck on those 28's around most of the time.

I have been really curious lately as to what my truck weighs compared to stock as well, especially with the flatbed. Thanks for the tip on the scale location

Steve, given all the steel and armor you have on the 4runner, that weight measurement doesnt sound all that bad compared to stock. That is impressive, given you also have much bigger tires, that roll bar, winch, dual tcases...etc

Pretty cool. I'd be curious to see what the Elvota tips the scales at??

What about the winch and bumpers? Roll bar? HighLift? It all adds up

My guess is that Elvis is going to be real close to me. I'm also willing to bet your truck will come in quite a bit lighter, but I also think my buggy is lighter than your truck.

Yesterday I dumped that gas tank for a fork lift tank. That's right, it's now a BBQ Buggy. I went to see Cary, no more carburetor.

Got Propane?

Yeah all that stuff does add up, I even have a fully battery welding setup in there under the rear seats for Steel, Aluminum and Mixed Metals. There is a lot of "stuff" in and on that 4Runner.

I'll try and go by sometime and see... so we can all sleep better knowing.

Steve, did you have all your trail stuff inside as well? Tools, jack, CO2, kitchen sink... all that crap, or just weighed it empty?

Me and Westy should go through one after another... both stating we forgot our water bills. Wonder if they'd catch on??

Mine!

My truck's sticker says it weighs 5100 lbs. I haven't taken it to a scale, but it's still stock.

I was waiting for somebody to post the door jamb numbers which is gross vehciel weight and not curb weight. gross weight is what the trucks fully loaded max weight can be. (GVWR)

When I finish with this class I'll check my 4Runner's weight. I'm now curious how much heavier it is.

I weighed my truck today at the Tempe scale - obviously its not a 3rd gen 4-runner but I was still curious for comparison purposes.

4055 lbs; trail ready (except I didnt have any tools w/ me)

There are a few things I can think of--leather is heavier than cloth, climate control stuff (servo motors, temp sensors, etc.), but I am willing to bet most of the weight difference is the power sunroof.

That is alot heavier than I would have thought it would be. Now I wonder if Elvis is not heavier than I am.

If you want to see why, I have a 1994 4Runner frame and a 1998 4Runner frame, it is really easy to see why one is heavier than the other.

But I really thought that the older cab and the flatbed would be well under 4K, more like 3500.

Maybe I should go weight the red truck and see how that differs from your truck.
