Crown King/ De Soto Run

I've been tossin' around the idea of camping at Lake Pleasant the Friday night before the run. Work a 1/2 day Friday and get up there in the early afternoon and start fishing and/ or hiking. Anyone else have any interest in this?

I got a co-worker with a bone-stock 4runner. Is this run doable stock? He's never driven off-road that I know of.

Its doable. See above. Although I know its probably changed some with all the rain. I'd love to go when life calms down a bit and the 4runner is moving again. This is one of my favorites.

You mean after tomorrow??

I might be up for camping out up there.

I think a stock 4Runner can do it if he doesn't mind smacking a few rocks here and there. Might need an occasional tug.

woohooo!
I'm so excited!
I was whining about the break in period. Stupid break in. dumb gears.
I'm crossing my fingers that crown king may be on my list of break in procedures.

If we get enough people, at least 10 I think, we can get one of the group campsites. If not we can at least all be in the same area.

T,

If you can get up there, you can just pull into our camp site. I thin they allow two vehicles a site. Even if it's late, you might be able to catch a few Zs before the run.

I wont be able to camp Friday night, but I will be staying overnight Saturday in Crown King.

A friends band is playing that night at the saloon, it should be a good time up there. Rooms and camping is available in and around Crown King.

Sweeeet!

I've been planning on camping up there Saturday night. Just thinkin' that with the weather so nice and the desert so green, it'd be nice to get in as much camping as possible.

You may want to make sure your co-worker is aware the CK backroad is not just a dirt road...its actually a 4wheel drive trail. It is doable in a stock 4x4 Toyota but 4LO and careful driving will be required.

He's got a stock 96 with a locked rear. He's usually a pretty careful driver, at least on the street, but I'll let him know anyway.

With the locker he should not have any problems then. Infact, Crown King was one of the first real trails I did before it was graded, and it kinda got me hooked on 4wheeling. Its a fun one, with alot to see as well.

Ok I'm definitely gonna be at Lake Pleasant friday evening, but have no idea what time. Will have my stinky co-pilot Ernie with me too (the dog). I will be camping saturday night as well.

Who else will be there Friday? Roll call? Campsite?

I guess I can monitor CB4 in the area to find whoever is there.
