I wouldn't say I'm new to yotatech as I've been lurking (read: learning) for over a year, but only started posting around the beginning of the year. Heh - now that I've put a bunch of hours into my rig (built not bought ), I can help out others every now and then.

I have an '87 4Runner thats set up for the trails pretty well...not a truggy though. I'm keeping it somewhat street worthy so I can drive it with the family for a couple hours to camping and wheeling areas that are not so local to me.

I'm out in northwest Peoria and have been hitting the Table Mesa area lately. I'd love to get out and hit the trails with some new faces.

There is a few good camping spots near the water. Those pics are at the 3rd cove. All 4 coves can get pretty busy though so if you want some privacy you're not going to get much out there. The further you go, the less traffic there is - and the 3rd and 4th coves are the only ones I'd recommend to camp at because they are harder to get to thus less traffic plus they have plenty of shade - the first cove only has a small area of shade and it gets really busy on the weekends, especially at nite. I tried to camp there once a few years ago, the later it got, the crazier it got - too many inexperienced, drunk, inconsiderate people out there driving recklessly. We watched some kids in a suburban hauling butt down the wash and plow right into the lake. It took 3 of us to pull it out. The next morning we saw that same truck laying on the roof down another wash. I'm sure that kind of stuff doesn't happen all the time, but it happens often enough for me not to camp at the 1st cove again.

As for a 2wd Titan - I don't think you'd get a 2wd anything back to the 3rd or 4th cove. But if he drives that just to bring the quad, he can just pull it into the wash just beyond the gate and park it there. That way you wouldn't need to get a Tonto Pass.

I'm glad I was able to help out. You don't owe me anything - it was just taking up space in my yard so I'm glad it went to a good home. Eventually I'd like to get the rim back, but keep it as long as you need - I don't need the rim, I just want to have it incase I ever do need it.

The only thing you owe me (us) is more trail time. Ted, Mike S. and myself are all here for you if/when you need any help with the rig. Mine seems to be all set now after Ted and I replaced pretty much the entire front end, so I have plently of time to help out with anything you need - just hit me up if there is anything I can do to help.

Hope to see you on the trails with us soon.

I am 100% for sure doing something this weekend. 90% sure about going to The Coke Ovens on Saturday - 50% sure about going to Butcher Jones on Sunday, just not sure I can do both days yet - depends on where we go on Saturday and if I make it back unharmed.

I will know for sure about Saturday tomorrow. Anyone else want to vote on going to The Coke Ovens on Saturday? My friend did a pre-run out there and he said the river is deeeeeeeep and flowing pretty strong so we'd have to turn around and come back the way we went instead of doing the loop.

Anyone who wants to go Sat or Sun, just let me know which day you can make it and where you'd like to go.

I'm down for the Coke Ovens on Saturday assuming that I can get my truck all buttoned up and in for an allignment tomorrow. I got tired of dragging the belly over rocks so I finally bit the bullet and lifted it a little.

Thanks man. You live right down the street so anytime you want to get together to wrench is cool with me.

The rim is in my garage and I promise you'll get it back the very next time I see you. More trail time sounds good to me

I'm 99% sure we are going to the Coke Ovens Saturday. I'm waiting to hear from my friend Bill who is the one pressing for there - Regardless, no matter where we go, you are more than welcome to come!

Roni - whenever on the rim, I don't need it at all - I'd rather you come wheelin with us than give me the rim back!

Ok ya'll, its official:

We're going to the Coke Ovens!! Who's comin?? We're also going to go to The Boulders - I don't think I've been there, but my friend Bill says its awesome.

Meet up TBD but somewhere in Queen Creek around 10am-ish I'll post the meeting spot as soon as I get in touch with Bill this evening.

I still don't have a passenger either - so if someone who's rig is down wants to ride with me that would be cool. If I don't find a passenger tonite I'll probably just ride in Stacy's FJ.

Here are a few pics from my last visit out there:

Sweet! Count me in. Just dropped the 4Runner off at Firestone, so as long as there are no major unforeseen issues with the alignment, I should be good to go. Coke Ovens is always a fun trail. I've never heard of The Boulders, but I'm down for trying something new.

You want pics?? Here ya go!

So, we didn't make it to the Coke Ovens because we went the back way in and the river was too deep at every one of the places we tried to cross. So, we found a semi-shady place and hung out for a bit. All it all, it was a good day, nothing too hard though which was kind of disappointing.

TED - Nate met Stacy, he can vouch for her existance.

There is a truck burried in the bank of the river - the only thing showing was the rockers and alxes - someone suggested that its an International but hard to tell:

This guy wasn't part of our group, but nice spare:

and the rest can be seen here:

Thanks for coming out with us Nate - I promise next time will be more challenging.

I'm planning on going to Butcher Jones this weekend sometime - or multiple times. Probably Friday nite then Sunday or whenever people can go.

Ted- Thanks for asking, the family is well, my daughter is fully recovered. I did meet Stacy, she is real, and any girl thats willing to wheel a brand new FJ gets a thumbs up in my book!

Jeff- I appreciate you letting me tag along. I had a great time! I've got to admit though, when Bill's insane rockcrawler broke down and he decided to ride with me I was a little intimidated, all turned out well though.

I didn't get nearly as many pictures, but here is the link: http://s762.photobucket.com/albums/x...er%2005212011/

ended up going to table mesa friday night with my buddy and his dad at 6 pm, ddnt get back till 130 am

first his dads buggy lost the coils on his race runner 2.5 coilovers when he hit a hard bump doing about 40 on the way to anaconda. got it fixed right quick, then hit anaconda,

on the second good obstacle my friend put his jeep sideways and with two winches we still couldbt get his jeep up, so we had to pull him back, cus he wasw loosing gas and coolant at the angle he was at(almost on his lid, more than sideways)

we end up getting him going and fluids filled up and finished the trail, went to hit terminator about midnight, and half way through the buggy blows a coolant hose to the radiator. massive steam show.

10 mins later, a miller light can and roll of electric tape and 3 gallons of water and were back to the trailer.

very interesting night, wish i had of brought a real camera instead of my cell phone, was to dark for my phone to take good pics.

makes me apreciate my yota, walked every line i tried, didnt get stuck, didnt break, but the jeeps had problems all night
