Ted and I both had issues come up on Saturday which prevented us from going. I'm open to go next weekend - if it doesn't rain again (like they say its going to) I'm too lazy to put the doors and the roof back on just for a few hours.
x2- Both females in my household came down really sick...Fiance': Strept throat, Daughter: The flu with an ear infection...sucks. And I came down sick last Sunday. Did absolutely nothing all week except work to get the 4Runner ready for the trails on the 19th.

Feb. 26th- No can do...going to Sedona for the Bridal shows their having there...WOOHOO..talk about a good time..

March 5th- Totally doable.

Jeff- Did you do a pre-run of BullDog Canyon?

Yes, we went and had a nice time. The rain held off until just before we got back on pavement (bummer). Not too many pics, but I'll post most of what I've got. I hadn't been out the Battleaxe Route so that was interesting.

Getting started in Box Canyon

Some of the skinny part

The only real obstacle.

Brian's nice 4Runner

Steve negotiates a rough patch with the Sonoran Steel Red Truck

A nice lineup of 1st gens at the Ovens

So Mike- They had a pretty good turn out then? What time did you guys finish the run? And the ledge was the hardest spot of the whole run?

Yeah. 7 trucks all together. It's a funny trail. Mostly it's rocky and bumpy and rough and you can't or don't want to go above 10 mph on the majority of it. But none of it is really all that tough. There are a couple spots to take a bit harder line, but still not really "hard". We got out to Hwy 177 by about 3:30 IIRC, aired up and were home easily by dinner time.

Bridal show? Hell yea -not so much

March 5th is a clean up at The Salt River from 8-1:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f66/...ch-5th-229667/

And after that, I'm going to the Red Wings / Coyotes game - Gotta represent Detroit in the desert.

I'd be down to go on the 6th if that works. I didn't get a chance to do a pre-run at Bulldog Canyon - yet.... might do it this weekend if I can find someone to go with me.

Well, if we're going to do it on a Sunday, then will this Sunday work for you? No sense in waiting two or three weeks to go? Let me check to make sure we dont have anything going on.

Hi. The blue 4Runner is me. Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner but I've been in a stretch of 12hr shifts at work.

Yes that is the Coke Ovens.
The rack came on the truck when I bought it so I can't offer any insights as to where it came from. I can say that it has never leaked and has held tight to several loads both on and off road and held up well.

As an aside, I may be looking to sell the entire top in the next few months.

OMG! You're going to actually take the top off?? I want to witness this epic moment - but really, if you need a hand let me know, I've had mine one and off a hundred times over the years. Why would you take it off and sell it? Do you have something better to put on it? Like a kayline soft top or something?
Heck - I'd be interested in your top if you're going to sell it.

Jeff,

Thinking about one of these:
http://www.softopper.com/Softopper_M...ails=1984-1989 Toyota 4Runner All

Really liked Killer Toy Tops but I dawdled and he quit making them so...

Not sure when it will happen, but yeah, I want to lighten it up a bit.

Hey Mike....Some one I use to wheel with had one of these on his 04' Ford Ranger FX4...

http://www.truckcandy.com/TC/CanBack...gment=Can-Back

Seemed really nice....but I know they're not cheap. Just a thought if push came to shove.

Or you can stick to the orginal idea..http://www.softopper.com/ShoppingCart.aspx

Apparently they're still available.

Yeah. $700-ish. Quite a poke in the eye, but better than Can-Back's $1400.

Hence my willingness to wait and let the old savings account grow. (and cruise CL)

lol I know what you mean Ted. When I open the front two just a little and open my back window just a little the air flows so nicely.

HOLY crap....Roni....you're alive...! Hey man...hows work going for ya? Good to see you're still around. Yeah, and I find my-self looking at Jeeps and with a little bit of envy, but then realize all I have to do is roll down the windows and pop the sunroof and I have all of the wind they have with the comfort to be able to roll up the windows and blast the A/C on the trails to keep out the majority of the dust. Sucks to be them...especially when I know when I break something, I can fix it and not really have to worry about it. At least not for another 50,000 miles or so, depending on how hard I pound it.
