Looks like a brand new paint job. Love the color. One day when I get my hands on my BMW 2002 tii, it'll get painted that deep, dark blue color too.

Man, that is a sweet ride! My plan is to pick one up as well once I find a place to park it (and finish paying for my 4runner).
BTW, what does SOA mean?

Spring Over Axle

if you look at the pics the leaf springs are under the axle -- soa is on top. 5-6" of lift, much flex and i have heard of peeps doing it for $100. of course they can weld. most use the original saggy 40 springs just put on new spring perches and some cut and rotate the otter part of axle to keep steering geometry. others use fj55 springs to lengthen the wheel base

i have been reading up on it for a couple of months just have to take care of rusty frame first

Do the older LandCruisers come with lockers or are aftermarket ones available? My big dilema, if I got an older cruiser, is whether to take it offroading or just keep it as a street queen.

Pro that is e AWSOME rig, what a find that is, it wouldalmostbe a shame to bring it to Uwharrie. I would have to think twice if I were you, but it would be aneven bgger shame to disrespect the T-case and not use that bad bo for what God intended. Look around in your local paper for me and see if you can find another one(Seriously) b/c I try looking here and I can't find a thing, dang ity's to small, in Charotte there's a better chance.

yea they have aftermarket lockers for the 40 -- didnt come factory tho. detroit/arb/truetrac......

stump -- if you are really interested go to ih8mud.com and put a post there. you will get many responses b/c most of these guys have like 10 of them laying around

hey prolax it dont matter what you paid right?? you got the BEST 4wd ever -- did you get the hard top, i see the full doors

i get stopped by somebody everytime i fill up at the gas station -- luckly its less than 1/2 a mile from the house b/c i dont have any breaks anymore...... i just use 2wd low (yea i can do this b/c i have vacume shift 4wd you can too if you read the mod at ih8mud just bend some "U" in the transfer case linkage. -- everybody whats to check it out. the first day i had it some guy at the gas station was crawling all under it and all up under my hood (yea the trusty F) man those trucks get the stares

yours looks in prestine condition -- mine is a rust bucket -- atleast the frame the body is in excellent condition. -- what are you gonna do first?? my is gonna be sittin on 40's when i get enough loot (probally a year)

Customcruiser,

I've always wondered why they put the front bumper out so far. It looks like the frame rails extend out another foot, and serve as the front mounting point for the leaf springs. Can you explain the rational for that?

mad -- i dont have a clue -- but they are great for rammin -- use to have an old isuzu tropper and would ram the hell out of it (trying to flip it over) just for fun!! -- okay i might be a redneck.

actually now that i think about it its probally b/c of the old PTO winch or it was designed to fit an older warn winch. thses pics are from "readers rides" on ih8mud.com

also mounting the springs farther out extends the wheelbase of these short monsters. i have hear of people extending ~6" more to increase articulation and wheelbase.

Eitrher way 40s are one SWEEEET rig, there is no doubt about it. Sooner or later depending on how things go w/ my new Runner(weather or not I get to keep it), I really want to own either an FJ40 or 60, they are both really sweet rigs, and the look damn cool sit'n on 35's.

There was a HUGE 55 For Sale in TN, it was SOA'd on 35s, that would have been too sweeeeet. But it looks like there is no way I can find a cheep(under 6 or 5 grand) LC, unless I want rust and alot of work that I don't think I can do.
