Dec 6th and 7th wheeling

I'm going to the mountain house this weekend and was wondering if anyone is close by. I'm in Banner Elk NC and have a few spots to go wheeling. There is 750 acres of off road on top of beech mtn. It is known as the, west bowl or Beech mtn Parkway. Is anyone close and would like to meet there Saturday or Sunday? I think they are expecting snow this weekend.......Ye halll. Let me know Chris

good ole beech

I tell you... some people have been up there working on a trail system and there is alot to do if you haven't been in a while. I played for about 3 hours a few weekends ago and never hit the same trail. All the rock crawling you want to do can be done.

i was up there about a month ago

losts of wash outs compared to years past

see any other rigs up there

look out for a D90 white with homemade snorkle 34 LTB's he will go if you find him -- his name is Matt Hedricks and he lives on the hill in front of that new strip mall with the train robbery restraunt i think it is called

have fun the cops travel those trails sometimes -- its 100% legal to be out there they are just checking up on those damn college hood rats

wheeling

Thats funny my bro is coming up also with his D90. You name he has it on his... ARB, on board air, winch front and rear, lifted, snorkle, racks, scars and scraps everywhere. I love my bro D90. Yea we know it is legal my dad is on the city council up there. We have had a house up there for 12 years. I also went to Lee's McRae for 3 years. Let me know the next time you are coming up and will meet and play on the mountain. I know alot of places many don't know about.

LAter Chris

West bowl

I forgot to tell you... If you ever see a 1966 109 land rover thats me also. Tire on the hood and a huge winch on the front. We live on Pine ridge road stop by some time.... We are close to Buckeye lake. The house nummber is 720 better than that just look for the old rover sitting out front.

Hell yeah!! I'll be up! Don't know how many cahones I'll have as I don't have any skid plates (long story) but I'd love to go for part of it and tape the rest!! Doesn't get much better than a day of 4wheelin and skii'n!! How would a stock charokee do? My buddy's gf has one that he might be able to talk her into borrowing . Are you just going for the weekend?

Nevermind! I'm comming up sat, we should be there at about 6. There are $5 lift tickets at appalachian this weekend. I know its not as good as the other two, but can't really beat $5! I definately want to wheel and ski, I guess we could wheel sat and ski sunday? It woudl be ideal if we wheel when its daylight so I can tape it and it will look descent! Its been awhile since I have made a video so i really want to make one!! I guess I'll call tonight or tomorrow to talk about plans incase you don't have internet in the mtns.

mountains

You are coming up 6 saturday morning or night? Do you know how to get to Beech mtn ski resort? If so just tell me what time you want to meet there Saturday. I think it will just be me with my runner. My bro is backing out due to work(Compurt Geek). It is going to be slick as he$# with the snow. There is alot to do though tons of easy trails rock crawls and hill climbs. Just call me Saturday around lunch in the mountains 828-387-2633. Or call me tonight after 9:00 at home 828-465-3536. There is going to be alot of snow.............

Waaaaaaaaah:cry: . I wish I had my Runner up and running, I would be there in a heart beat to come play. I've got a blown inside CV on both sides of the truck, and it's to dang cold to get out and do anything about it. Gee I wish I had a garage, or enough cahones(sry Austin had to steal your spelling i had no idea where to begin ) to brave the freak'n ice and wind out there right now. Good luck guys, take some picture Austin, I know that shouldn't be to much of a problem for you, post um when you get a chance.

now what do you mean by not as good??

the snow is better (they have the best snow making equipment up there and the largest H2O resivor and the mtn doesnt face the sun during the day causing most the ice and they are the smallest so they have the most & best snow in NC)

I think you ment to say not as BIG as the other 3 (forget about Hawksnest??)

just bustin yo balls since i cant come

Stump -- 2 busted CV's -- are you still driving on those?? probally not but you could if you had Manual Hubs!!
I'd bring to a shop I hate the damn cold

West bowl is fun.
The first month I had my runner I got it stuck on it's side going down a hill in the Bowl and had to be winched back. I went there in the snow and there was 18" of powder. We went with 2 Land Rovers my Runner (factory w/ locker and 265 Pro Comp AT) and 2 Jeeps. One jeep YJ got stuck 15 times, 1 D-90 got stuck in the river for 3 hours, The TJ (6" longarm suspension, duel lockers) slid onto it's side coming down a wash out from a tree farm. It took 2 winches and 2 hours to get him back on all four tires. Everyone had trouble except for on Rover and my Runner
The mud hole at the top is deep and has claimed the lived of 3 jeep motors, 1 D-90 Motor, 1 Deisel Mopar motor all in one season.
Have Fun

Hey I built and painted the majority of the trail signs and markers when I worked for Fred from Freds General Merchentile. He personally nailed them up on is 4 wheeler with his lab Jackson. We made and marked the hiking trails (4wheeling) on maps that are free from Freds store. The area has cleaned up alot over the years. Rumor is that the Bowl is going to be turned into another Golf Corse
NVRSASTK, when did you go to LMC, did you wheel at Hanging Rock (the old slopes that were cut on the backside of Hawksnest) off of Horse Botom Road, it was one of the last places in NC that has (or had) Black Panthers. It is now a private Golf Corse with under 80 members.

There used to be 2 or more Rovers at Beech Buggies in BE, They all had the pop top campers and the steering is european. Post a pic of the Rover, might jog my memory.
