Oct. 8-9 West Virginia Run

We're (CORE4x4) are hitting the Dolly Sods area of West Virginia on Oct 8-9. A trail report and photos can be found here:
http://www.core4x4.org/trips/100904/...ds100904.shtml

You're all welcome to join us. Last year's ride was alot of fun and turned out to be an impromptu Fall Colors Run since the leaves in WV were already turning.

More details to follow. This is a stock-friendly trail run.

* * * Update * * *

Who's going?

Ian (Roadrunner)
Rich (rwmorrisonjr)

* * * Rally Point * * *
11:30 am
Keyser, WV
Wal-Mart parking lot, up front near the gas station.

Last year the weather was great. We had a little rain, more little a sprinkle during the night that went through quickly. The temps dipped to the mid-40s at night. On the day we arrived (Sat), we set-up camp, had some lunch and went wheeling. We were out all day which turned into night wheeling.

* * * Trip Cancelled Due to Weather * * *

Hopefully the run will be rescheduled.

Seems like a good run...If I get my 4runner back up and running I might be in. I'm originally from WV and live near Wytheville, VA so it wouldn't be a long drive. How many days is it?

Wow, I might actually make two runs this year! I'll see if the wife is up to a camping trip, but if not, I'll be there for all the fun.

Nope, not on that run. The S-10 needed a strap when we were playing in one of the old coal pits.

It's "primative" camping, like finding a bush or a tree to squat behind.

We can have a fire, most camp sites have a fire ring.

I hope you guys can make the Oct 8-9 West Virginia run. If you can, this weekend would be a good opportunity to pull out your camping equipment for a gear check.

I'm in, but my wife isn't, doesn't want to make the trip in the Bronco II! I'll get my gear out this week and see how it is, just the small tent, bag & stove for me.

BTW, how far is Dolly Sods from here?

Well, I'm guessing CORE meet again in Keyser, WV before heading to the Blackwater Canyon/Dolly Sods area. I took a look on Mapquest and Keyser, WV is about 88 miles from Front Royal. We could meet just west of Winchester on Rt. 50 on that Saturday morning (Oct 8).

I've forgotten how long it is from Keyser to Dolly Sods, maybe an hour or so.

You guys that are somewhat close to Jeremy should offer to give the kid a hand with getting his 3.slow rebuilt. I am sure he would spring for the Beer and food.

Unfortunately, he's almost 300 miles away. Hopefully someone from the Blacksburg/Radford area can help.

Got a hold of a guy from Blacksburg but he said he is busy this weekend...oh well...like I said it will take longer to do but at least I could say I got it done myself and am experienced in it! Will help later on down the road...maybe another day I can join you guys in a run.
