edinburg trail
This time its for real. I have saturday open and would like to try and get down to edinburg. I have never done the trail, but it looks decent. not to challenging at all. So if anyone is interested in an adventure exploring a new trail, let me know. Of course i'm not gonna go if no one else does. Its definatly worth it to a least check it out, since its so close. DO I have any takers for this expediton.

I was thinkin bout tryin to get down there around 10 or so, that way no one has to get up too early. go wheeling for a few hours check it ll out, then be back in the afternoon. It wont be a lot of wheeling, but just an exploration of a new trail.

Do you know any of these trails listed on the CORE4x4 Website?

Roadrunner, on the site you just posted, look at the peters mill trip. That is the trail i was plannin on running, when they mentioned the pond it gave it away. Sounds like a nice easy day, just a chance to get out and explorer something new.

BTW, this place isn't far from the trail we're hitting on Saturday.

Hey, do you guys think it would be safe to leave the running boards on for this trip? If I take them off, I'll have to put them back on this weekend, so I'd like to avoid removing them for now.

You should be fin with the running boards on, I'm pretty sure. If for some reason they need to come off, i will have tools, it doesnt take too long. Roadrunner, its too bad your not gonna make it. Maybe some other time, or we could push it back a little in the day if you want to, and that works for mtnbkr. I know we will see others on the trail, and in the areas, so it might be kinda cool to meet some other wheelers from the area. WEll i cant wait to see you on the trail on saturday

Cool, I'll leave them on then. My wife actually uses them these days, so taking them off for any length of time is out of the question. I can push it back if necessary. I don't have much planned for Saturday other than chores, which I love to ignore.
Anyway, post here or send me a PM letting me know the final decision on time.

You guys missed a good ride. We didn't get to ride the Edinburg trail because it was closed (John called this morning and was assured it was open.
Instead, we took Rt55 to the WVa/Va border and rode this trail. I doubt John has gotten home yet, so I don't know what pictures he has (his camera was having issues), but here's what we captured with my camera:

Sorry for the lack of html, you'll have to click the pics you want to view....
We both lifted our rear wheels once. We got as far as the powerline trail (pic 6 on the Core link) before turning around (there aren't many turnarounds on this trail). The views were very nice and the weather was perfect. A stock 4Runner can do this trail (mine did), but you will need a low range gearbox. Of course, that's not a problem with Tacomas or 4Runners.
Also, the trail is quite tight at times. I wouldn't take anything larger than a 4Runner out there.
BTW, the first few pics of our trucks in a field are misleading. That was about the only flat spot in the entire trail and is 100yds or so in. After that, it gets tight and twisty.

Hey, i'm back too. BUt my camera issues still continue, i will eventually get my pics when the camera decides its ready to give them up. It was a great adventure. Hopefully sometime we can make it down to edinburg when its open. BUt the trail we did was definatly more difficult. The tire lifting chris mentioned was one of the scarier moments i've had. my drivers side rear tire was a good 6 or so inches up. I had my brother pushing down on the back corner of the bumper to try and balance me out. I'm not sure how i got myself in that situation, cause when chris came down the same thing he just rolled right through, no problems. But it was sure a fun day.
