Meeting notes - July 9th, 2003
(and you guys thought I was just writing a letter to Mom!)
In attendance (I don't know some of your handles here, sorry! drop me a line and I'll edit this message):
David formally went over a projected charter and we also had miscellaneous loose discussions during dinner. The key points were (in no particular order):
With a solid handshake, a fleeting wave, and screeching CB's, we all parted with most of us planning to be at the Thursday night run on 7/10.
Wahoooo!
In attendance (I don't know some of your handles here, sorry! drop me a line and I'll edit this message):
- Daryll (???)
- David (Mad Chemist)
- Kevin (KevyWevy)
- Mark (mpulver)
- Ray (2001Millrunner)
- Rickey (StoryR)
David formally went over a projected charter and we also had miscellaneous loose discussions during dinner. The key points were (in no particular order):
- No elected officials. We want to keep this a loosely organized group that's rooted in fun.
- Meeting schedule will be "loose" to begin with. Though probably not fewer than once/month.
- Need a dedicated website for 4ROC in general, but 4ROC-WA in specific.
- As we see new people posting from WA, we should drop them a PM pointing them to the 4ROC-WA charter.
- 4ROC-WA will assume NO responsibilty or liability for members or their equipment. Once a formal website goes up, everyone will have to sign a disclaimer to this effect.
- At this time, there will be no membership dues.
- Some talk was had about handling the cost of a web host.
- Some talk was had about registering as an NPO (Not for Profit Organization). This could be important if members contribute to the cost of hosting.
- Talk was had about selling stickers and such for 4ROC-WA through Cafepress.com.
- Separate talk was had about getting HUGE stickers done up at a local fab shop.
- Daryll stated that his boss would give 4ROC members a 10% discount on parts once we had ID to show membership. Daryll is a Toyota Master Technician who works at a local dealership.
- Buy a spatula.
- Mark (mpulver) agreed to start the hunt for a web host.
- Ray lost his sliders tonight (thanks David!)
- Kevin got his CB tested (SWR = 1.4:1, good to go!)
- Ray got his CB tested (SWR = 3:1, needs work!
) - Ricky and Kevin demo'd their off-road capabilities. No details were to be had.

With a solid handshake, a fleeting wave, and screeching CB's, we all parted with most of us planning to be at the Thursday night run on 7/10.
Wahoooo!

! Dang, for some reason I'm stuck on swapping the names! ARGH!Sorry Ray; Sorry Ricky!
Letter to mom coming soon... I actually do owe her one!
And I think it might serve better if you wrote to the membership (use BCC!) and pointed them to here. That can get the folks used to looking in the forum for updates.

Great job on the write-up Mark.
The only thing I'd add is that Daryll (who is a Toyota technician) said his boss would give 4ROC members a 10% discount on parts once we had some type of membership card to make us look like an official club. He's got contacts at other places which might swing us discounts as well.
Ditto on pointing them to the thread- once we have our own website, we'll want people in the habit of going to the web for updates on group meetings and such.

The only thing I would "caution" here is that this would obviously be something specific to 4ROC-WA and we may want to be sure that only WA residents are members. That's not an issue now with manual sign-up, but once the website is up we shouldn't turn our backs on verifiying residency.

I was too busy trying to locate my tie-rods in the dark at about 10:30 last night, when I finally figured out a) what and where the tie rods are and b) that I don't have to worry about them being frozen to go off roading tonight! I'm waiting for all the great shots I'll get tonight from off-roading, and post on Friday (assuming we don't get back later than midnight. Patience, little grasshopper!

Just wait until we guide you off of a cliff.

btw, It was actually David that did the running boards, my name is Mark, and I'll have a PL-259 plug with me tonight if you want to cut that excess antenna wire.
KICKIN' MAN!
