Anyone from Fresno or the central valley??
Hey guys, just wondering if there were any valley folk on here. I know I've seen a few but never seen a thread about Fresno. I'm brand new to wheeling, so I'd love some advice/input on trails and stuff. I'm looking for a place to try out the 4runner and learn how to drive. Maybe we could use this thread to post up trails in the area? If anyone out there wants to teach a newbie the ropes, I'm also in the market for wheeling buddies

Hey Mike! Nice to meet you :-) Any good trails in Madera? I haven't had much luck with the Marlin boards...but I do lurk around on there quite a bit.

Do you have any trail advise for a rookie to the sport?

I'm in Oakhurst. There are a ton of Yota folks up here, and more in Fresno. Take a trip to the hills and get on the forest service roads. There are a ton of trails out there. Maybe pick up a Forest Service Map off the USGS website, and pick a place you'd like to check out. Smart idea trying to get some wheeling buddies though, as it's always best to go into the back country with someone else, in case you get stuck or break down.

I plan on doing a lot more simple local wheeling this season, like Mirror, and then just doing some fishing, mtn biking, hiking, etc. I'd love to take you up on some of our great trails!
Keep in touch!

Now we're getting somewhere! Maltese - any specific places around Oakhurst? Mike - I would be eternally grateful. My wife and I are mountain bikers as well. So far my favorite place around here is squaw leap or the san joaquin trail in Auberry. There's a lot of fun places around Millerton too.
I definitely need to get a map or 2...can anyone recommend some good ones for the area?

I'd try to check out Iron Lakes or Shuteye Peak, for some mild to moderate wheeling. You'll have to wait until all this snow melts off first. We're going to be planning some trips for the summer, so I'll try to let you know, if you want to tag along. Also, we go annually to the UltimateYota.com Pismo Jamboree the last weekend of September, if you're into that sort of thing. It's been a blast the last two years!

Thanks man, I'll check into both of those places, and would love to tag along. Like most people in Fresno who like the beach Pismo is my home away from home I'll definitely think about the jamboree, it sounds like a blast.
