Never seen one in person. Have seen pictures of them on here but can't remember where. Never said this about a Toyota before but 4500 seems a too high.

Those are known as custom cabs. It was a factory option. Trucks were built by companies such as winnebago as well as a few smaller shops. I owned an 86 custom cab that i wish i would have kept. But i was young and dumb.

Not that rare and it is not factory. It is called a custom cab.

Actually it was a factory option to order it as a custom cab. As far as its rarity it is in the sense there is alot less of the custom cabs then there is of all the other toyota trucks.

That guy has been trying to sell that thing for at least 8-9 months. No one in Oklahoma is going to pay 4500 for that. Its rough. You wouldn't believe the ridiculously over valued Toyota's for sale around this state. Every redneck thinks they can turn a dog turd in to a golden nugget.

Looks really rough for sure, but I really don't see the point rare or not? I have seen posts about these conversions but I mean we're these done at the dealer or an actual factory option from the dealer like ordered from the factory and shipped to a dealer?

It was an available option but how it went was the dealer would send a standard cab truck to the nearest authorized shop, there it would have the frame stretched rougly 30" (been a while, cant remember the exact number) as well as the fiberglass cab installed, all the interior done. Then it would be returned to the dealership for you to pick up.

Its still not built at the factory, as Dropzone stated. Ergo, its not a factory option. Its a dealer option.

That price is ridiculous for that beat up pile. Just because its semi-rare doesn't mean its worth a mint. $4500 for a beat truck with a junky ford interior is way too high.

I test drove one when I bought one '86 4runner off the lot in 86. They have the turning radius of a battleship. Good candidate for 4WS.
