Talking winch solenoid relocated w/pic, snapped winch cable end

I just relocated the winch solenoid pack into the engine compartment. Its placed about where Schaefer has his but is just snuggled in btwn some other components not bolted down.

I have 2 questions I hope someone can answer.
1: Is it okay to have metal or wires touching the metal a/c lines?

2: Is the small red w/ black cover wire running from the solenoid to winch just a ground? I spliced it w/ copper wire and no cover but taped the splices good is the cover important?

The other thing is I already broke the tag end of my winch cable while letting it out under load . 80' is shorter than I figured. I guess Ill HAVE to buy a synthetic line now I mean I have no other choice right.

answer to #2: not sure if its a ground, but the cover was probably there for a reason, i would make sure its covered.

the terminal end of my rope has come off before. i just crimped on a new terminal and re-mounted it, its as good as new.

you should call and talk to a Warn representative, they are very friendly and very helpful.
