Looks like it is 4.30. I'll be re-gearing to 4.10 to match my front. Is there a special ring / pinion set for the elocker or is it the same as the open diff? What is the best brand / set to go with?

yeah, I've been reading (a lot) lately. I'm very confident I can swap the axle and do all the electrical work but need to get the gearing thing figured out. I didn't see the first thread though (thanks). After reading the first thread I think I'll have to do the spin and count test on my current setup as the numbers on the door panel were not entirely clear. I'd love if they were both 4.30 but I don't think I'll be that lucky.

Have you considered regearing the front instead so you are getting a little better gearing for off-road.

I was thinking about that. Won't I have to reconfigure my speedometer as well? Which is easier / cheaper to regear?

hey pepsilvr,
If you dont mind... how much did you give for the Yota axle? I too have been doing my homework on this and am currently searching yards. Seems the push button elocking diff didnt come on many models around my area.
Also.. do you.... or anyone else... know ... can you do this same mod to the front axle? on a SAS? All the writeups are on the rear axle.

Yes, e-locker works in front, same modifications to the housing as the rear.

I paid $400 for mine - got the entire rear axle. From what I hear though, people have been paying $400+ for just the locking third member.
