Where did you mount your winch control box?

I have a TJM T-17 on my '98 4Runner and I am mounting up a Warn M8000 winch. The housing was clocked so I can free spool the winch, but I am not sure where to mount the control box. I would put it right on top of the bumper, but I already have three HIDs mounted there.

Where did you put your control box for your winch? Under the hood? In one of the bumper wings? If you put it under the hood did you run a winch controller in the cab or do you just hook up your controller to the solenoid control box and let the wiring come out from under the hood?

I put mine under the hood, next to the battery. If I need to use the controller I open the hood, but I usually use the switch I installed on the dash.

Revive I know but I'm in a similar situation. I have a T15 and just bought a Warn M8000 and can't figure out where to mount the control box. It comes with a lame bracket that I can't figure out where to use it and short cables. I'm assuming you all had to extend the cables if you mounted it under the hood and you fabbed your own mounting bracket? If you didn't make a new bracket where did you buy one?
My bumper with the winch is just sitting in my front yard right now so I'm in a hurry to put this back together.
Thanks in advance

Moving it just about anywhere will require longer cables.

I made my own mounting bracket, and made some longer cables from welding cable.

Red face

Over the years I have put several in the cab

Making longer cables is no big deal.

I bought a Simpson Strong Tie 90 degree bracket, painted it and gave it a 45 bend and put it on my bumper. Works great and I'm happy so far.
